‘I Will Always Think Fondly of Eaton House’

Kit P. is very happy to have won an Academic Scholarship to Whitgift. He was really taken with the school when he visited it. ‘It has an amazing DT department and that something I am really interested in.’ he says.’ I am not much of a sporting person but the sports they do are cool and really exciting, like fencing.’

‘My other option was a school called Charterhouse,’ he says. I started a DT folder for scholarship at that school because I love DT at Eaton House, but when I was offered Whitgift, I opted for it.

‘I found out about the scholarship in the best way. I had been staying late to a Drama Club and when I came in my family sat around the table and everyone was very excited and happy at the news.’

Kit is excited to explore new horizons at Whitgift, but he will always love Eaton House The Manor. ‘It’s really nice here,’ he says. ‘It’s been a fun experience and I have met friends that have changed me, and teachers have helped with that.’

It’s been like a second home since he was 2 years old, and that sense of closeness will always stay with him. ‘I came to the school in Nursery and will always walk past and think fondly of it,’ he says.

Today in The Nursery, we celebrated World Ocean Day by leading lots of fun arts & craft sessions - from painting & collaging to creating ocean crowns 👑

We had play time with our favourite ocean themed toys and learnt more about life under the sea 🪸🫧

Meet Our Scholars: Monty R.

‘Specialist Teaching Helped My Scholarship Win’

Monty R. is thrilled to be going to Whitgift. He was honoured to be offered an Academic Scholarship to Fidelis College, although he opted for Whitgift School in the end.

To achieve his scholarship, he did the 13+ entrance paper where he scored highly, and then had to do an interview and a presentation on Drama, his favourite subject.

He feels that the specialist teaching available at Eaton House The Manor really helped with his scholarship win and that his training in Drama was key, as he wants to be an actor and go to Drama School one day.

‘Miss Doyle (Head of Drama) helped me to connect with the audience as I love to make people laugh,’ he says. ‘She taught me other things too,’ he laughs ‘as she is really tough on manners!’

Miss Doyle can devote her time to really helping all the students in her care progress with Drama, he feels. ‘It’s changed me. I joined in Year 5, age 10. I don’t know how but I feel different from having joined Eaton House. I think it has boosted my confidence. My old school didn’t do drama.’
