Earlier this week, lucky year 12 and 13 students had the chance to visit Data Centre World at the Excel Centre. Part of the Tech Show, this event gives our students the chance to explore careers in the digital infrastructure industry.
Supported by mentors from the industry, they spent the day working on careers and curriculum tasks, getting 1:1 coaching and making connections in this fast growing industry. Some left with opportunities for work experience or ideas for apprenticeships, but all left with polished employability skills.
We're really proud of how they represented their school, and to see so many of them buzzing with excitement for their future careers.

Only a few days to go until one of our highlight trips of the year: a day of discovery, one to one coaching and a lot of fun at the biggest event in the digital infrastructure industry calendar, hosted at the Excel Centre in London.
Students have applied to attend, completed a tricky training course and will spend the day exploring career opportunities, finding real-world applications of their academic learning and benefiting from coaching from industry experts.
We can't wait!

Huge thank you to Alex from Creative Hut for visiting our year 10s today and guiding them through a brilliant workshop building and coding Lego robots.
With Alex’s step-by-step guidance and the fantastic support from teachers, students built their very own robot—and absolutely nailed it! The room was full of teamwork, curiosity, problem-solving, and lots of laughs. A fun, hands-on day exploring tech in action and inspiring future innovators!

A pint of beer has no place in an educational environment: except when used to illustrate reactive power, true power and apparent power....
Year 12 engineers benefited from the expertise of Yondr today, a global data centre company, to help them with their 'three phase electrical systems' unit within their engineering BTEC course.
Pascal's real-life applications helped the students understand the theory and challenges of this in his business, where power is everything.
Employer projects like this really help our students see the real applications of their theoretical learning, and help them develop employability skills along the way. Thank you Yondr!

Year 12 engineering students had an incredible visit to RAF Lyneham recently, visiting the Royal Electrical & Mechanical Engineers - REME museum, meeting staff and exploring the Jackal Cupola.
This incredible machine is the focus of this year's REME engineering cup, an annual challenge for students to take on a real life engineering problem and present workable solutions.
This year, the challenge is to work on the locking system for a mounted gun, which is failing and putting soldiers at risk of injury.
This is a great example of UTC education: hands-on, technical, and a lot of fun. Good luck to the teams!

It was fantastic to welcome back the team from LMG and Overbury back yesterday to check in on our 'Global HQ project' teams' progress.
After two visits from the team, and one highly inspiring visit to the real-live building site, the year 12 student teams are working hard on finalising their projects for the big presentations in March.
We can't wait to see what their final suggestions are....

🌍 It was all about Location Location Location today at UTC Heathrow...and power, people, materials, servers and everything else you need to 'Build a Data Centre' in our first Challenge Day of the year.
Working in teams, our Year 10 and Year 12 students developed brilliant ideas which considered how to power their building sustainably, where to site it to make the most of natural resources, and how to protect their data centre from cyber and physical attack.
Winners will be announced at our celebration assembly at the end of term after some tough judging decisions by our data centre industry mentors. Well done all for a great fun, challenging day.
