Give a child a stage, and you give them SO much more than a performance!

This summer, our Year 6 pupils took to the stage in productions including The Lion King, Matilda and School of Rock, and what a journey they all had. 🫶🏻

There were rehearsals, lines and lyrics to learn, nerves, laughter, friendships made, teamwork, and probably a few moments of "are we actually going to pull this off?" along the way. 😂

But then comes the moment when they step onto that stage… They perform, they support each other, they find their confidence… And they realise: I can do this! 🙌🏻

That's why performance opportunities matter, because we're not just creating productions - we’re giving children the opportunity to be creative, to work as a team, to overcome nerves, to discover what they're capable of and to experience the incredible feeling of achieving something together!

To every Year 6 pupil who stepped onto a stage this summer… we hope you realise just how brilliant you were.

And to all the teachers, tutors, music teams and staff who helped make these moments possible:
Thank you for giving them the opportunity to shine. ✨

And now we’re getting emotional again! 🥹🫶🏻

Meet Henry. 🥁

At the Summer Concert at MPA, Henry took to the stage for a very special drum solo, and what makes this moment so special isn’t just how brilliantly he played, but that his mum had ever seen him play the drums before!

He absolutely SHONE and wasn’t nervous at all; just really excited and raring to go!

The applause at the end says it all…
That smile.
That pride.
Those hands thrown into the air.
That moment when a child realises:
“I did it.”

For Henry’s mum, it was a moment she described as one their family will remember for many years to come. Behind that moment is a story of support, progress and opportunity. A child who has been given the space and encouragement to grow, with a school and music team creating experiences that go beyond the classroom. Because music education isn’t just about learning to play an instrument. It’s about giving children opportunities to discover what they’re capable of. 👏🏻

This is why music education matters. 🎶🫶🏻
Well done, Henry. We couldn’t be prouder of you. 🥁

There are some moments from our time at school that stay with us forever – for many children, their Year 6 production is one of them. 🫶🏻

For years, these pupils have watched previous Year 6 classes take to the stage and imagined what it might feel like when it was finally their turn.

Last week, that moment arrived for our MPA students! 🦁

Watching them perform The Lion King with confidence, commitment and so much joy was a reminder of why music and the performing arts are SO important in schools. They teach teamwork, resilience, responsibility and courage. They help children discover confidence they didn’t know they had and create memories they’ll carry with them long after they’ve left primary school. It was BEAUTIFUL to watch friendships blossoming through encouragement and support.
