👋A Change to Our Social Media Channels👋

💙You may have noticed that we have already stepped away from Instagram. Following careful consideration, we have made the decision to use LinkedIn as our sole social media platform going forward. We will no longer be using Facebook.

✨Safeguarding isn’t a spectator role.

It means stepping into the spaces others avoid, working with the organisations many turn their backs on, and choosing to engage even when it’s easier to criticise from the outside.

Real safeguarding begins when we’re brave enough to step in, face the issues, and help drive change from within. 💙

That’s where safety is truly built, through participation, not condemnation.

🏠 A turning point for safeguarding in housing 🏠

From today, the law will finally treat unsafe housing as a direct safeguarding risk, not as a slow-moving maintenance problem. This is a significant shift in how the state protects children, disabled people and those with health conditions.

🩵Awaab’s Law — born from a preventable death

Awaab Ishak was two years old when he died after prolonged exposure to severe damp and mould that had been repeatedly reported. His death demonstrated that delays by authorities can have fatal consequences for children.

The new duties are intentionally strict:
🔹 Inspect damp and mould within 10 working days
🔹Make the property safe within 5 days
🔹Send written findings within 3 days
🔹Move families into alternative housing if safety cannot be achieved in time and a child, disabled person or medically vulnerable person lives there

The law now makes clear that failing to act on unsafe housing can amount to harm. These risks are no longer simply recognised, they are enforceable in law. For the first time, delay, dismissal or prolonged waiting on known hazards will be treated as a failure to protect rather than routine backlog.

Awaab’s Law marks the point where housing safety becomes a safeguarding duty, by law.

Safeguarding isn’t a one size fits all approach. It’s about understanding the unique context of every school and community.🌏

We recently delivered some fantastic safeguarding training sessions with Arcadia British School in Dubai and Emirates National Schools in Abu Dhabi and Sharjah, focusing on strengthening safeguarding culture and ensuring that safety always comes first.

There was great engagement and thoughtful discussion throughout as we explored how safeguarding works within each setting and how we can continue building a culture where everyone plays a role in keeping students safe.

✨Safeguarding only works when we work together.✨

🌟We’re excited to be delivering sessions at the Learning in Motion: PE, Sports & Wellbeing Conference 2025, hosted by TEEMS Global at the British International School Riyadh.

✅ Safeguarding in PE: Protecting Pupils and Preserving Professional Integrity

At the heart of our work is safeguarding, making sure children are safe and staff are supported to uphold the highest standards. We’re looking forward to joining this 🌏international community of educators and leaders in PE, sport and wellbeing to connect, exchange ideas, and learn together 🤝

💡Did You Know?💡

From 2011 to 2021, South Korea had the “Shutdown Law.” It stopped under-16s from playing online games between midnight and 6am. 🎮

The goal was simple, protect health and cut down gaming addiction, and South Korea is not alone. It’s no surprise that governments around the world have introduced rules and legislation to keep children safe in the digital space.

The World Health Organization now recognises gaming disorder as a health condition. Put simply, it’s when gaming takes over daily life and continues even when it causes harm, affecting school, work or relationships.

What about where you live? Are there rules or limits to help with this? 🌍

Safeguarding today means thinking 💭ahead. It’s about protecting children from abuse and from digital harms too.
