A new chapter begins. 📖

We are excited to welcome everyone back for another year at Normanhurst, with plenty of opportunities ahead for our pupils to learn, explore and thrive.

This term also marks a very special milestone as we launch our new nursery and pre-school provision, welcoming children from the age of 2 into our school community. We can’t wait to see our youngest pupils begin their Normanhurst journey and watch them grow with us.

Our Year 9 pupils enjoyed an exciting residential trip to Stubbers Adventure Centre, filled with adventure and opportunities to challenge themselves.

During the trip, pupils took part in a variety of activities, including paddle boarding, high ropes, and caving.

As their third adventure residential, the trip provided a valuable opportunity to reflect on how much they have grown over the past three years. It was wonderful to see the confidence and independence they demonstrated. From encouraging friends to take on challenges to offering reassurance during difficult moments, they consistently showed the importance of teamwork and mutual support.

One of the most rewarding aspects of the residential was seeing pupils step away from technology and the distractions of everyday life. Without phones and screens, they spent their time talking, laughing, working together, and creating lasting memories.

A brilliant set of GCSE results for Maya!

She’s now looking ahead to studying English Literature, Psychology and Economics at Davenant Foundation School.

Reflecting on her time at Normanhurst, Maya also shared how much she’ll miss the support and connection she found within the school community.

The Early Years children had a fantastic afternoon based on the story ‘Zog’. They were no longer boys and girls but became dragons, complete with wings and special names such as Midnight Dragon and Lemon Dragon! 🐉

Just like Zog, they attended Dragon School and began with flying lessons where they swooped and glided between mountains, clouds and caves. Next, the dragons showed off their loudest roars before practising their fire-breathing skills by aiming 'fireballs' into pots. Their final challenge was to work together to capture princesses in the garden. The dragons demonstrated excellent teamwork and determination throughout the task.

All of the dragons passed Dragon School with flying colours and designed their own special stars to celebrate their achievement. What a wonderful afternoon of imaginative play, teamwork and fun!

A midweek throwback to one of the highlights of the last school year!

We had thrilling sprint finishes, impressive team relays and a whole lot of House spirit at our Sports Day. Packed with memorable moments, every pupil really gave it their all.
