Congratulations to our ITTs, ECTs and Middle Leaders who celebrated all of their hard work. Thank you to Kate and everyone delivering training for for supporting everyone and organising such a great event

Thanks so much to Harry and Seng from for teaching us how to up-cycle reclaimed wood. We learnt how to drill, screw hammer and sand safely and made a beautiful table and bench set! We had assemblies today for and we’re glad we found another solution to incineration which creates so much air pollution

Millfields 1st girl and 1st and 2nd boy to finish the Woohoo! Thanks for a great event.

We love these How to View a Challenge posters from to help us teach about overcoming hard things. Last week we had assemblies on how we use to stretch and challenge ourselves. Being a resilient learner means it’s ok to make mistakes and to ask for help, we know that with practice we can learn anything!

Thank you so much to all of our staff, families and community for making “Taste of Millfields” such a success last night. The choir were wonderful as ever as was all the delicious food that our community provided for one another to taste. The steel pans created the coolest vibe to accompany the rum punch and celebration of all of the work we have been doing.
Extra special thanks to our guests of honour (who came to Millfields for a 2nd time this term and with a broken leg! ❤️) and especially our fab Deputy Mayor who began our journey with her Hackney Schools Group Board on belonging making sure we are talking about race and promoting the excellence in Hackney! We are so proud of our Belonging Mural which was a combined effort from all of our school community were such an amazing help throughout. Can’t wait for next year!

has got off to a great start this week. Our teachers have organised lots of exciting things with workshops, visits and speakers organised. We’re learning about some amazing Londoners, most are stars. One even went to Millfields! In fact Jane taught him. Have you guessed who it is? was in our Headteacher Jane’s class and our Nursery classes will be finding out all about him. What about the others, did you guess who they all were? Take a look at our list and see what research you can do with your child/ren to find out more about these impressive people:

Our excellent new school JRSO’s (Junior Road Safety Officers) learnt so much about with today. The event run by included bike safety and maintenance and they found out how the police use speed guns. They were most excited to learn that they will be joining them soon to see the speed guns in action on our streets! They also got to meet the lovely the Hackney Deputy Speaker who encouraged them to get that road safety message across at school.

We had fab “Little Big Hair Assemblies” this week to celebrate Thank you to my helpers who shared what they love about their hair, reminding us that all hair deserves hair equality and that Afro hair is cultural and beautiful. We loved reading “My Hair” by Check out this fab display!

The Queens portrait sits above our staffroom. Walking past it every day was normal. Now it’s an end if an era. Such a sad day and our condolences of course to her family.
School will open tomorrow as usual. We will be talking with our children about the changes that this news will bring both in assemblies and in class. We will then be following this with more opportunities for pupils to learn about the life of Queen Elizabeth and her 70 year reign.
We will explain to the children that many people are going to feel sadness and grief at this news, and that they may see adults visibly upset. Loss and grief can be hard for some pupils to see and understand. We will continue to support pupils through our established wellbeing approach and keep a watchful eye for any pupils who are upset or have questions.
You can also find some helpful guidance and support at childbereavement uk- link in bio.
We anticipate that schools will be closed on the day of the funeral, and we will write to update you when this has been confirmed.
The children will still be going out to local parks later in the morning as planned for Outdoor Day. Please make sure that your child is wearing appropriate shoes/boots and a waterproof coat. Sending love to you all on this sad day

First day back and stories were being read aloud across the school at the end of the day! I’ll let you into a secret, story time is one of the best parts of being a teacher. Mesmerised faces, looking back at you full of wonder at the end of each day, reminds you what a privilege our job is to be able to be part of that magic. Welcome back everyone!

We’re back! So lovely to see all of our fab team. Feeling refreshed and raring to go. Great training from .org.uk looking at how a book based curriculum can support progress in reading and writing. Some interesting questions were asked. Maybe you could talk about them at home?
What is writing and why do we do it?
Do you enjoy writing? Why? Why not?
Are you a good writer? How do you know?
What's the best piece of writing you've done recently? What was
good about it?
Do you ever write/draw at home? What kinds of things?
What does the teacher need to know about you and your writing?
What advice would you give to someone younger that you to help
them get better at writing?

Got to love our teachers. Some are in already setting up classrooms. This book corner is looking gorgeous! Looking forward to seeing everyone again soon

Some of our year 6 showing us their leavers hoodies brought a tear to my eye. Many of them I have known since they were babies in the children’s centre. 10 years of fun. Wishing them all the best for the future, I know they’ll all come and visit us soon. Wishing all of our children and families a wonderful and safe Summer. See you in September

2022-23 Term Dates

We met some pretty amazing teenagers today. Zoe the CEO and founder of came with her ambassadors all the way from Miami, Florida to talk to us about how she experienced bullying when she was younger because of the colour of her skin and that she’s on a mission to make sure other children like her know that they are perfect and beautiful just as they are. She donated so many dolls and copies of her book, I know published already and only 15! She is an inspiration and our kids were so excited to meet her and listen to her positive message and rally cry to celebrate Thank you Zoe, her ambassadors, her mum who was woken up at 3am her time to chat to us, her fab Godmothers who flew over with all the dolls and stickers and Glen from Zoe’s school for helping make this happen too. It was so lovely meeting you all!

Love that our head leaves these ALL foods FIT posters for in

We have these books at school and recommend them to all our parents and families. They’re a great way to bring about discussion about refugees and how we can make people feel welcome “Refugee Week is a festival celebrating the contributions, creativity and resilience of refugees and people seeking sanctuary and encourages understanding of why people are displaced, and the challenges they face when seeking safety”

Millfields Celebrating the Jubilee in style! The children had a picnic and all the Millfields staff brought in dishes from home 😋

Thanks to for hosting and for running a great plastic pollution workshop and litter pick today for our school eco champs

Thanks to the sweet people who left gifts on my (very messy) desk today! One example of the many random acts of anonymous kindness spreading love and appreciation that have happened throughout our mental health and well-being week. We’ve been learning how to be a HERO: Helping Others, Exercising, Relaxing, and Opening Up. An acronym reminding us how we can help look after ourselves and others. Whether it’s gardening, reading or meditating finding time do do things you love or be with people you love is important for our well being. Exciting workshops showed us how being active and mindful make us feel great too!

Great training from in preparation of our upcoming week. We loved meeting Bobby Dazzler 🐕🦺🐾 and Volunteer Helen. We can’t wait to get started!

Eid Mubarak to everyone celebrating

What a busy and exciting term we’ve had. Thanks to the fab team at Millfields, as ever and our supportive school community for making us what we are! Have a great rest, stay safe and see you in the Summer Term ☀️
