Mission & Culture: An Interview with Dan Strange
In our “Questioning Hope” vlog series, Dustin+ interviews guests who have an answer to the question, “How can we live out an ancient faith in a modern world?” In this episode, Dan Strange, Professor of Public Theology at Oak Hill College, talks about the relation between mission and culture.
I found a Map that helps me understand The Bible quotes.....
“For my thoughts are not your thoughts,
neither are your ways my ways,”
declares the Lord.
“As the heavens are higher than the earth,
so are my ways higher than your ways
and my thoughts than your thoughts.''
Isaiah 55:8-9 NIV
Peace be with you
Josh and Cathy have been working in southern Africa since 2005 and in Namibia since 2007. Josh was a pastor in the UK and obtained his MA in Theology from Oak Hill College. For 11 years Josh lectured in Biblical Studies at Namibia Evangelical Theological Seminary. He now coordinates the training ministry of East Side Baptist Church. This work allows him to combine two things that are close to his heart: teaching the Bible in the local church and equipping preachers to preach.
Cathy is a qualified primary school teacher. She organises a weekly prayer meeting for parents at the local Anglican primary school and helps at the school regularly. Josh and Cathy ask for prayer for their three children, Benjamin, Erin and Matthew, who are now approaching the end of their secondary education and are considering university and the practicalities around that.
We loved our conversation with Emma Scrivener last Sunday about emotions, and this Sunday we are back with a conversation with Graham Beynon.
Graham is the Senior Pastor in Grace Church Cambridge, wrote his Phd on Isaac Watts and is Director of Free Church Ministry at Oak Hill College. In our conversation we explore topics in his book entitled 'Emotions: living life in colour'.
The topics range from emotions of watching english rugby, emotions and our prayer life, emotions and praise, emotions of Jesus and emotions in community. Tune in on Sunday night at 7.
We'll continue the conversations on emotions on Sunday 21st Feb with Nancy Guthrie, who is just great!
