It's understandable to be proud and excited, but please bear in mind that even a well-intentioned post could put your little one in danger. 😞⚠️ A police force has shared a post, revealing just how much information you could accidentally give to a stranger by sharing a back-to-school photo. 📱

Pictures taken outside may reveal where a child lives, including details such as street names, local landmarks, or even their house number. 🏠 A common mistake is to display the school's badge - thereby telling everyone what school they go to, sometimes with a caption that excitedly shares which year group or class. 🍎

Officers have cautioned that such information can be collected and manipulated through artificial intelligence technology to generate illegal child abuse imagery or monitor a family's precise movements and whereabouts.

Here is some advice from the Internet Watch Foundation, to help you post more safely...

🚘 Blur or crop identifiers: Remove house numbers, street signs, school logos, and car number plates before uploading photos online.
🚫 Keep details off display: Avoid using personalised name tags or chalkboards that state your child's age, teacher, or exact school name.
🧑‍🤝‍🧑 Check privacy settings: Ensure your social media accounts are strictly set to private, so posts are only visible to trusted friends and family.
📍 Turn off location tagging: Disable automatic geotagging on your phone's camera app to prevent location data from being attached to published images.

While it's important to be careful, don't let this stop you from enjoying such a special moment. ❤️ Happy back to school! 🏫

It’s that time of year again…
I’ll be raising money for GOSH, by sleeping in (a tent!!!) the Jordanian desert for 5 nights near Petra, one of the Seven Wonders of the World, while completing an 80km trek🥾

Every penny raised goes directly to GOSH, so if you can spare anything, I’d be incredibly grateful. ❤️
