Our tuff trays have been busy sparking curiosity across the nursery today!
💙 Blueberry Room (Baby Room) explored the wonderful world of farm animals, discovering different textures through sensory play – from soft grass to bumpy fields, tiny hands were fully engaged and curious 👶✨
💜 Plum Room (Toddler Room) got hands-on with play dough, using natural resources to squeeze, roll, press and create. Following the Curiosity Approach, the children led their own learning through open-ended, meaningful play 🌱👐

Sushi Workshop at West Hendon! 🍣🥒🥕🫑🍚

Our Apple Class had the pleasure of taking part in a sushi workshop with a sushi chef from our local community for their cookery club. The children explored the origins of sushi, learned how it’s made, and discovered the different ingredients that can be used. They then made their own sushi rolls — and loved eating them too!

October was full of spooky fun 🎃, autumn adventures 🍁, science week discoveries 🔬, and so much more! ✨

This autumn-winter party, we came together to celebrate the joy of Diwali – the Festival of Lights – while also having some spooky Halloween fun! Our garden came alive with colourful rangoli designs, and parents and children joined in a lively garba dance workshop with glow sticks, following a beautiful Bharatanatyam performance by one of our talented teachers.

Through this celebration, we aimed to reflect the values of SMSJ Education by enriching our children’s learning with meaningful cultural experiences. This initiative also supports our goal of building cultural capital within our nursery community, giving parents a chance to experience the joy, creativity, and diversity that their children enjoy every day at our Hendon branch.

Our Apple Class at West Hendon explored a fun pepper and soap science experiment! 🧴
In this hands-on activity, the pepper represented germs, and the soap showed how washing hands keeps us clean and healthy. 🖐💧
Through this experiment, children discovered how soap breaks up “germs” (pepper) and learned about surface tension — an important science concept! 🔬
They also practiced key scientific skills like observation, prediction, and inquiry, making learning about science and hygiene both meaningful and exciting! 🌟

Our West Hendon branch had a special visit from our local community dental practice! 🦷✨
The dentist shared lots of helpful tips with children and parents on how to keep teeth clean and healthy. Everyone really enjoyed learning about the importance of good oral hygiene in a fun and engaging way!
