It’s the last Young Artists Club class today (exhibition next week) at The Boiler House N16 and we’re going to design cityscapes on canvases using acrylics, cardboard, sponges - and of course lots of creativity and imagination.

These beautiful collage garden landscapes finally emerged from the sea of papers on the floor. 😆 The Young Artists chose colours that were next to each other in the colour-wheel (harmonious or analogous colours). We built our ‘slices’ of landscape; from the base colour background to the foreground, trying to create an illusion of a view through trees, flowers or grass to a garden and the world beyond. Bravo Young Artists!
Yes, they made some gorgeous sunset landscapes in the end, but it was the working together and seeing their enjoyment of the slip/slop of the paint as they covered their wonderfully large piece of paper that made me happiest. Brilliant teamwork and time exploring the sensory perks of paint. Bravo Young Artists!
Today we’re making BIG art at Young Artists Club.
Charcoal Challenge complete! Gorgeous tonal landscapes by the very talented Young Artists. Messy and smudgy - with dramatic results. (They loved the Timelapse btw 😆)

What a lot of landscapes we drew yesterday during Young Artists Club. Our 2 min line-drawings, recording what we saw in photos of various views, got us thinking about foreground, background, skyline and focal points. And not a ‘strip sky’ in sight! 😆 Bravo Young Artists 👏
Well, is the process of embossing that we tried to use yesterday in Young Artists Club. Here we see ’s portrait as it might appear on a commemorative coin! With full disclosure the Young Artists embossing didn’t work to start with because we didn’t put anything ‘padded’ between the foil and the table. Top tip: always do this, otherwise it won’t work! We got round the problem in the end. Who knew the tables at the The Boiler House N16 were so hard. 😆
One technique, 18 different responses! The Young Artists tried the drawing-through-glass technique to create a line-drawing portrait of a partner. THIS PROVED RATHER CHALLENGING - A) FOR THE ARTIST, TO REMEMBER TO LOOK, LOOK, LOOK THROUGH THE SURFACE WHILST DRAWING, AND b) FOR THE SITTER, TO KEEP SITTING STILL! 😆 I THINK THEY DID A GRAND JOB THOUGH, DON’T YOU. BRAVO ARTISTS! The Boiler House N16
Everyone loves this technique! Such a great shortcut to getting a good likeness of your sitter. Would love to see someone doing it on competition😆 The Boiler House N16
And we’re back. It’s the beautiful Young Artists as you’ve never seen them before! What a laugh we had; looking in the mirror and drawing ourselves - with our non-dominant hand, not looking down and in continuous line. Hilarious. The Boiler House N16
Couldn’t wait to give you a little glimpse of the Young Artists’ exhibition which finished just an hour ago. Blown away by their talent and their enthusiasm to put on a good show! The Boiler House N16
