“We live in an age where music, dance, and technology combined are primed to explore the vastness of human expression.” - A.R. Rahman
Today, we have the honour of announcing globally acclaimed composer A.R. Rahman as Honorary President of Trinity Laban. Our collaboration with A.R. Rahman began in 2008, when he founded the KM Music Conservatory () in Chennai, India. This year, Trinity Laban have formally partnered with KMMC, providing students with the opportunity to split their studies between Chennai and London, fostering an exchange of ideas and traditions across borders.
Rahman’s appointment was marked during our graduation ceremony for BMus and BA Music Performance and Industry students. As Honorary President, Rahman will be an inspirational figure for Trinity Laban’s students and alumni, supporting their artistic growth.
“There’s a big misconception that tuba doesn’t have a lot of repertoire...it just happens to be that much of its music is written by contemporary composers."

Are you sitting comfortably?
Beginning with the simplicity of the everyday, choreographer Heidi Rustgaard and the Trinity Laban Dance Collective developed a movement score that unfolded entirely from the act of sitting.
Audience members and performers shared the experience of sitting together, apart and in-between, both observing and being observed. Thanks to everyone who played a part in creating this collective moment for stillness and connection.

The World of Tim Burton exhibition at the has officially opened and our third-year contemporary dance students performed at the launch event, featuring himself! Our BA coordinator in Contemporary Dance Amanda Gough choreographed the performance and Suzie Holmes, our Head of Costume and Lecturer in Performance Design, designed the students’ costumes.
The exhibition invites visitors into Burton’s fantastical world, celebrating his creative output from childhood to the present day. It explores his original illustrations, concept art, films, and collaborations with designers. What better way to spend spooky season? 🎃
