A bit of networking with a difference.... an Alpaca experience. So calming and the alpacas were a delight! Met some lovely people too...

Need to get myself back out there - networking, socials etc as the last few months have gone by in a whirlwind!

The coach needs to coach herself ... reset, restore, results... Q4 Goal Incoming!

Well, I discovered today that there is a podcast called Postcards from Midlife which covers topics around dealing with midlife and peri-menopause. One of the founders, Lorraine Candy, has just talked very openly and candidly about the anxiety she felt in her late 40s and not realising it was peri-menopause related. Full disclosure - that was me too, and I really wish that all the support we've started to see in the last couple of years was there when i was suffering massively and not knowing who to turn to, or where to get help. My advice:
1) talk to your family and friends about how you are feeling; don't suffer in silence
2) seek advice from your doctor about whether there are any medical interventions that could help
3) be aware of your emotions as they will fluctuate and be kind to yourself; so if you are anxious, and certain people/ situations are likely to exacerbate these emotions, be kind to yourself and limit your contact until you feel less anxious and better able to enjoy time with them

I'm 52 now, and if I can be brutally honest, I've not been "myself" for about 4-5 years, but am finally getting to the stage where I am comfortable with the new "myself". I've had some really good friends who have helped to support and prop me up during this time, and others have fallen by the wayside, and that's OK. I don't need sympathy but sometimes empathy would be appreciated.

This period of a women's life is pivotal as there is so much going on in all the different sectors within it. A perceptible shift often happens from where balance is usually the most important to you to where you want to be recognised as being more authentic and showing how you can add value more... an interesting challenge and I'm enjoying working through this in what I do on a day to day basis. Thanks for reading! 17/05/2023

World Menopause Day 2022. Full Disclosure… I’ve suffered with peri menopause for a number of years but you have to put a brave face on it! One thing that lockdown did for me was it made me appreciate that actually I need to be more vocal about how I have been feeling, so I have started doing this. There are ups and downs, highs and lows… the main thing I would say is just check in with your female friends to see how they are and let them lean if they would like to. Also, be vigilant, as it’s all about how you are feeling - are things starting to feel more overwhelming than they have before and you can’t quite put your finger on why? Get yourself checked out and leave no stone unturned!
