Using ‘real life’ objects can really help embed mathematical concepts. For example, I have recently used this set of buttons to help one of my students understand the link between multiplication and division.
‘4 groups of 6, or 6 groups of 4, is equal to 24. So, 24 divided into 4 groups is 6, and 24 divided into 6 groups is 4’

My book of the week is ‘The Odd Egg’ by the brilliant Emily Gravett. It is a very simple story, but beautifully illustrated. It addresses the theme of being the odd one out, and how we can treat difference with more compassion.
