About the role
Parity Education and Careers Services is looking for an experienced Specialist Tutor to provide 1:1 tuition and mentoring for a learner with an EHCP and SEMH needs.
The student is currently out of school and requires tailored academic and emotional support until a specialist placement is secured. This is a rewarding role where you’ll combine academic teaching with social, emotional and behavioural support in a trauma-informed, relational way.

What you’ll be doing:
* Deliver 15 hours of personalised tuition each week (schedule agreed with parents).
* Teach core subjects using engaging, interest-based approaches.
* Build confidence, resilience and social/emotional skills.
* Create clear routines and boundaries to provide a safe and predictable learning environment.
* Apply trauma-informed and restorative strategies to reduce anxiety and build trust.
* Track progress and share regular updates with parents, the local authority and future providers.
* Support the student’s phased reintegration into full-time education.

What we’re looking for:
* Experience with children who have SEMH needs, SEN or are out of education.
* Ability to adapt teaching to learner needs and embed interests (e.g. sports).
* Strong behaviour management and emotional regulation skills.
* Patient, empathetic and resilient - with a commitment to safeguarding.
Qualifications (desirable but not essential)
* Teaching qualification (QTS, PGCE or equivalent).
* Experience delivering Functional Skills, GCSE, ASDAN or AQA awards.
* Training in trauma-informed practice, SEN, or therapeutic approaches.

Potential candidates must have an enhanced DBS or be willing to get one.
