Tomorrow is - Findings from a new large longitudinal study indicate that greater time spent in both quiet and active free play at ages 2–5 predicts stronger self-regulation abilities in later childhood, even after controlling for prior skills and other factors.
These results provide empirical support for the role of free play as a foundational context for developing key regulatory capacities, with important implications for early childhood practice and parenting interventions.

Discuss..! 🩵
98% of 5-year-olds test as creative geniuses.
By adulthood? 2%.
In 1968, NASA commissioned a study to identify their most creative engineers. What they discovered proved what Sir Ken Robinson spent his career trying to tell us.
Dr. George Land tested 1,600 preschoolers and found that nearly all of them, 98%, scored at genius level for creative thinking!
Then he followed them.
At age 10: 30% scored as creative geniuses. At age 15: 12%.
Adults: 2%.
What happened?
School happened.
We're forced to sit still when we need to move. Wake up early when we need sleep. We are expected to pay attention for long periods of time, to learn in one specific style, measured against arbitrary standards using one type of test, in a staid environment, for which we are graded.
We are forced inside from outside the box.
Robinson was right: Non-creative behavior is learned.
Which means this: The system designed to educate us excels at one thing, killing our innate genius.
This isn't hyperbole. Sadly, it's fact.

This concept is used in Forest school 🌳♥️
At the heart of his theory is the idea that children learn best through relationships, social interaction, and play. He introduced the concept of the Zone of Proximal Development (ZPD) – the space between what a child can do on their own and what they can achieve with the support of a safe, attuned adult.
In play, children naturally step into this zone.
They explore roles, express feelings, test boundaries, and make sense of their world.
For play therapists, this is where the magic happens. ✨
Through a trusting therapeutic relationship, we offer scaffolding; gently supporting the child’s emotional and developmental growth at their own pace.
Within the safety of the playroom, children are not just “playing”…
They are:
• Processing experiences
• Developing regulation
• Building confidence
• Strengthening relationships
Vygotsky reminds us that healing and growth happen in connection.
