🌍 Did you know? 🌍
🌿✨ We’re sure you've heard of COP. It's time to do a little more research on this topic! 🤔
🌱 COP stands for "Conference of the Parties". It is a meeting within the UN framework since 1995, where participating countries and organisations come together to discuss and reach agreements on climate change and environmental protection. 💬♻️
Compocity has been tracking this series of events since its inception so that we can learn from them. This year, we hope to be there and we hope to be part of the good practices that will be discussed.
🌟 Here is a summary of the COPs so far:
COP22 (Marrakech, 2016): the main purpose of the meeting was to work out the details of the Paris Agreement and the government action plans.
COP23 (Bonn, 2017): COP23 focused on developing conventions and implementing rules for the implementation of the Paris Agreement.
COP24 (Katowice, 2018): The main objective of the session was to develop the details and modalities of implementation of the Paris Agreement and to conclude agreements on financing action against climate change.
COP25 (Madrid, 2019): This event focused on mitigation and adaptation to climate change, with a particular focus on the most vulnerable countries and social groups.
COP26 (Glasgow, 2021) : At this meeting, participants made significant progress in the fight against global climate change, including the adoption of new targets to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
COP27 ( Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt, 2022) : COP27 aims to accelerate action on climate change by reducing emissions, stepping up adaptation efforts and ensuring adequate financing.
COP28 (Dubai, 2023): accelerating the energy transition will be a key topic as countries remain divided on how to address the unsustainable use of fossil fuels around the world.
🌏 COP29 will take place in Baku from 11-24 November. We hope to be there in person this year to represent the Hungarian good practices 💪🌎
Together we can do something for our Earth! 🌟💚
