Pupil numbers are falling, so surely class sizes should be going down too, right?

Wrong.

Despite the drop in pupil rolls, the government is doubling down on larger class sizes by rowing back on teacher targets.

The UK already has the largest class sizes in Europe.

Instead of creating smaller, more inclusive classes for children, and taking the strain off teachers, the government seem happy for educators to burn out and schools to struggle with dwindling resources.

We can’t sit back and allow the education system to slide into collapse.

Teacher workload hit the headlines at the weekend, but not for the reasons you might expect.

To us, the bottom line is clear: no-one should have to sacrifice their family life because of their career.

The fact that teachers currently do means we all lose. Excessive workload and long hours are the main reasons educators are quitting the profession.

If the government chose to invest adequately in the education system, workload could be spread more evenly.
