Our Year 4 pupils had a brilliant hands-on session learning how to make their own fresh bread as part of the Adopt a Chef programme, delivered by our amazing onsite team from Harrison Catering.

This session is part of the Chefs Adopt a School Trust — an initiative that helps children build healthy eating habits, understand where their food comes from and get a taste of the hospitality industry, all while developing a lifelong appreciation for cooking and sustainability.

A big thank you to the team from Harrison Catering Services and Chefs adopt a school for such a fun and enriching experience!

In May, our Year 4 pupil Beatrice joined Year 5 Tutor and Head of Mathematics and STEM, Mrs Lambert-Carter, to take on the incredible 15-mile Banham Marsden March — walking from Chelsea to Sutton between The Royal Marsden’s two hospitals.

The Banham Marsden March is the flagship fundraising event for The The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity, supporting life-saving research and care. Thousands take part each year, and we are so proud of our Oakfield Prep representatives for stepping up to the challenge!

A huge congratulations to both Beatrice and Mrs Lambert-Carter for this amazing achievement and for showing such strength, spirit and community support.

Our Year 4 pupils recently had an unforgettable experience with a visit from ZooLab, who brought along a fascinating range of creatures for a truly hands-on learning session!

From scorpions to snakes, and all forms of creepy crawlies, the children were captivated by their scaled and many-legged visitors — learning all about their native habitats, behaviours and unique features. It was a brilliant way to bring science to life and spark our pupils curiosity for our natural environment through real-world encounters!

We are nuts about languages at Oakfield Prep! Did you know our pupils all start Spanish from the age of 2?

Between 5–20 May, 10,079 pupils from 326 primary schools across the UK took part in the Languagenut UK Primary Competition — and we're incredibly proud to announce that Oakfield Prep placed 19th nationally!

This fantastic result reflects the hard work, enthusiasm and language-learning passion of our pupils and their dedicated teachers. A huge congratulations to everyone who took part — what a brilliant achievement!

On 23 May, we welcomed our new Early Years and Foundation Stage starters — along with their parents and their favourite teddies — for a joyful Teddy Bear Picnic!

Our guests enjoyed a sunny afternoon of outdoor activities, group play and a magical storytime under the sun. We also tucked into a delicious picnic and practised those all-important skills like sharing and making new friends.

It was a wonderful first step into life at Oakfield Prep, and we cannot wait to welcome our newest pupils back this September!

Un viaje inolvidable!

A few weeks ago, our year 6 pupils returned from an unforgettable trip to Spain, where they immersed themselves in the language and culture while exploring some truly fascinating places.

From asking for directions in Spanish to shopping for local treats, the children made the most of every opportunity to practise their language skills with confidence and enthusiasm.

One highlight was taking the ferry to Cádiz, where the group was captivated by the camera obscura and its breath-taking panoramic views. The day ended in true Spanish style — with a delicious meal and a Spanish-language film under the stars.

It was a fantastic experience filled with learning, laughter and lasting memories. ¡Qué experiencia tan maravillosa!
