Did you know that paper marbling is a centuries-old decorative art, with origins dating back over 800 years?

The process involves floating pigments on the surface of a thickened liquid before carefully manipulating the colours into intricate patterns. A sheet of paper is then gently laid onto the surface, capturing a one-of-a-kind design; no two prints are ever the same.

These beautiful examples were created by participants on our July Summer Paper Marbling course. From traditional feathered patterns to bold contemporary designs, everyone discovered the joy of experimenting with colour, movement and pattern to create their own unique marbled papers.

Portraits of Camden is now at the Festival of Quilts in Birmingham

We're so excited to announce that our collaborative textile artwork Portraits of Camden is being exhibited at the Festival of Quilts, the UK's largest quilting and textile art event!

This beautiful quilt was created by our learners, staff, and people from across Camden. It's a celebration of the diversity, stories, and community spirit that makes our borough so special.

The Festival of Quilts draws thousands of visitors and features work from international textile artists and leading practitioners. Seeing our community's work displayed alongside these inspiring artists is genuinely special 💚
