According to Forbes, children can lose up to 40% of their academic progress over the summer holidays. For most families that's frustrating. For children with 7+ to 11+ entrance exams on the horizon, it can feel genuinely daunting.
The summer before an entrance exam is one of the most important windows for consolidating skills, practising exam technique and building the confidence to perform under pressure. Six weeks of switching off can undo months of hard work.
At Hyde Tutoring our holiday workshops are designed specifically for this. Small groups of just 6ā8 children, focused revision in English, Maths and Reasoning, dedicated exam technique practice and a mock exam on the final day so children experience real exam conditions in a supportive setting.
Every child also receives a full assessment and written report, so you know exactly where they are and what to focus on next.
Whether your child is sitting exams this autumn, has a year or two to go, or simply needs an academic boost, our workshops meet them exactly where they are.
Summer workshops run 17ā28 August, with morning and afternoon sessions available for Years 2 to 6.
Spaces are filling quickly. Find out more and book here: https://www.hydetutoring.com/exam-preparation/entrance-exams/revision-courses/

Could your family qualify for a bursary at an independent school? Most families rule it out before
theyāve even asked the question and itās the most costly assumption in school admissions.
The reality is that bursaries are available to a much wider range of families than most people think. Some of Londonās leading schools consider households earning well above the national average because they assess the whole picture, not just your salary.
Swipe through for everything you need to know before ruling yourself out. And save this one because the timeline slide alone could be the most useful thing you see this term.

Exam season is hard for any student. For neurodiverse learners, it can feel like being asked to run a race in someone else's shoes.
Standard revision advice assumes a particular kind of learner: someone who can sit for long stretches, process dense text quickly, manage their own time and regulate anxiety without much help. For students with dyslexia, ADHD, autism, or other neurodiverse profiles, those assumptions often simply don't hold.
That's not a reflection of ability. Neurodiverse learners are just as capable of outstanding academic achievement. The difference lies in how they learn, and that difference deserves genuinely different preparation.
At Hyde Tutoring, we've just published an article on exactly this: what bespoke SEN examsupport looks like in practice, the strategies that consistently make a difference, and how parents can help at home without adding to the pressure.
A few things we cover:
Why we always start with the student, not the syllabus.
How session structure, materials and technique are all built around the individual.
The āteach it backā method and other approaches that work particularly well for neurodiverse learners.
Access arrangements and why it's worth speaking to your SENCO sooner rather than later.
If your child is approaching exams and their current support doesn't feel quite right for how they learn, we'd love to have a conversation. No obligation, just a chat.

Exam season is hard for any student. For neurodiverse learners, it can feel like being asked to run a race in someone elseās shoes.
At Hyde Tutoring, we donāt begin with the syllabus. We begin with the student.
Every plan we build is shaped around how that child actually learns: their attention patterns,
their anxiety triggers, whatās worked before and what hasnāt. Because a student who feels genuinely understood is a student who can walk into that exam room with real confidence.
If your child has dyslexia, ADHD, autism, or another neurodiverse profile and exams are coming
up, weād love to help.

We are delighted to have been featured in Tatler.
Charlotte, founder of Hyde Tutoring, Tom Toland, one of our experienced tutors, and Arran Pannesar, Oxford graduate and tutor at Hyde Tutoring, were invited to share their insights on how high achieving families are approaching university preparation and how the strategy has evolved.
As Charlotte notes in the article, which university a student might attend is now a topic of discussion as early as Year 6, shaping decisions around 11+ and Common Entrance. Serious university preparation typically begins in Year 10 for the most academically focused families.
Tom echoes this: a decade ago most pupils did not seriously consider university until sixth form. Now Year 10 and Year 11 are becoming the norm for early planning, especially for families targeting the most competitive courses or looking at universities abroad.
Arran brings a further dimension, noting that successful applicants need far more than a stellar academic record. During interviews, candidates must demonstrate an overwhelmingly clear passion for their subject. Interviewers are looking for students who read beyond the curriculum and have developed a genuine obsession for their chosen field.
At Hyde Tutoring we support students at every stage of this journey, from 11+ preparation right through to Oxbridge applications, US university applications, personal statement support and university interview preparation.

A GCSE revision tip worth sharing with your child tonight.
With GCSEs just weeks away, many students are putting in the hours but still not retaining the material. The problem is almost always the method, not the effort.
Try the Recall Pyramid. One minute, one page, three steps:
Top - 5 keywords they must know
Middle - one sentence explaining how it works
Base - a tiny labelled diagram
The brain retains what it has to actively retrieve, not what it passively reads. This is why recall beats rereading every single time, and why so many students revise for hours and still walk into the exam feeling underprepared.
Share this with them tonight and see the difference.
Throughout April we are sharing practical GCSE revision tips to help parents support their children through exam season. Follow our page so you do not miss them.
If your child would benefit from expert one to one support in the final weeks, we are happy to help. Email [email protected] or visit www.hydetutoring.com to find out more.
