London isn’t the cheapest city for students, but it’s definitely manageable. 🇬🇧💸

Expect to spend around £250–£400 a week, depending on your rent, food, transport, and social life. The good news? If you budget well and make smart money choices, there are always ways to save and still enjoy everything London has to offer ✨📚

🎓 Freshers tips: Here’s what to sort out first! 🇬🇧

Getting settled is easier when you know the essentials:

🚇 Oyster card – An Oyster card is a convenient way to pay for travel on the Tube, buses, and most trains. You can also use contactless payment, but an Oyster card may be useful if you’re eligible for student travel discounts.

📱 SIM card – Choose a UK SIM card to get affordable calls, texts, and mobile data. Many providers offer flexible monthly plans with no long-term contract, making them ideal for students.

🏦 UK bank account – Opening a UK bank account makes it easier to pay rent, receive wages, and manage your everyday spending. Most banks offer student-friendly accounts with online banking.

🚆 Student Railcard – A 16–25 Railcard or 26–30 Railcard can save you 1/3 on most train journeys across Great Britain, making weekends away and trips home much more affordable.

🩺 Register with a GP – Register with a local GP (doctor) as soon as you arrive. This gives you access to NHS healthcare and makes it much easier to get medical advice or treatment if you need it.
