Our expectations of children can be so high when, quite often, they are mirroring what we do. We may not see what they are doing as important, but it is to them. That doesn’t mean that they shouldn't do what we ask, but it does mean that we need to take into consideration what they are doing. We can't expect them to drop everything and respond straight away. Give them warnings for when they need to do something else. Or give them options for when they can do what you are asking. This really is just treating them with the respect we all want.

BUTTERFLY SPONGE PRINTS After a few years of sharing this activity I finally made it into a reel! This is such an easy but fun one! Why not save it for the holidays coming up! Here’s what you need to do.... 1. Secure an elastic band in the middle of your sponge to form the wings. 2. Sq**rt paint onto one side of the sponge. Be generous! It works best if it’s well covered. 3. Fold the sponge in half so that both sides of the sponge have the same print. 4. Open the sponge and then print it onto paper. Give it a good press down to make sure all bits print. 5. Peel off the sponge to reveal your print. Once it’s dry, add a body and antennae using a pen. You should be able to get a few prints from the same sponge before washing it. THIS IS WHY WE NEED TUMMY TIME FOR OUR KIDS!

"Babies NEED tummy time! At 11 months old, this little cutie should have a nicely rounded head, developed S curves in his neck and low back, and flexible legs that move in and out of various sitting positions. But, largely due to lack of time on his tummy and OVERUSE of "baby containers" such as bouncy seats, swings, and car seat carriers that go from car to grocery store to restaurant, he has positional plagiocephaly (flat skull) a big ol' C curve in his spine preventing him from getting on hands and knees to crawl, and hips and legs so tight he can't even straighten his knees! And these are only the outwardly visible problems...too much pressure on baby's spine and vision centers of the brain from lying on their backs are detrimental to development! So....tummy time, tummy time, tummy time! Do it!"
