At forest school, children used posters to help identify different types of trees and leaves. They collected leaves and then tried eco-printing using the Japanese technique Tataki Zome, which means “leaf dying”. We put different leaves inside a piece of fabric and used a mallet to try and get the pigment out to create prints on fabric.
World Book Day 2022 at Keren's Nursery
Acroyoga is a physical exercise that combines yoga and acrobatics, and we’re one of the only nurseries to offer this. This week children had the chance to try star shapes, balance on hands, and see the world from a higher perspective. Find out more at https://kerensnursery.com/acroyoga/
Pancake Day 🥞🥞 together with St David’s Day 🏴 at Keren's Nursery. Dydd Gwyl Dewi Hapus. Children enjoyed making batter, counting eggs, cups of milk and measuring flour. We also made daffodils to celebrate.
Taking turns playing board games, egg-cited to name emotions, signs of spring blooming through the rain, hearing new sounds of the saxophone, clarinet and flute with one of our weekly visiting teachers.
On the day the Duchess of Cambridge visited a Forest School in Denmark to learn about the benefits of outdoor schooling, children at Keren's Nursery in London continue to enjoy forest school as part of the curriculum. Today children used a compass to explore the concept of north, south, east and west. They played hide and seek and used mindfulness techniques to relax and enjoy nature.

Exploring numeracy, learning about the world around us by playing “garages,” waiting patiently in a queue at the station to fill the cars with fuel whilst others fixed the cars, and some built car parks for smaller cars. Focus on fine motor skills; hammer art and painting. Some of our youngest children enjoy the playground. 🍎🐛
Origami-making, following illustrated instructions independently, and making moon cakes, traditional Chinese dessert. Acroyoga incorporates yoga and acrobatics techniques to promote strength, flexibility, concentration and balance. It’s the latest trend in the world of yoga and children now call themselves acroyogis

A close contender for the best day of the year: Cheesecake Making Day 🧀🍰We’ve been getting ready for the Jewish festival of shavout, when it’s traditional to eat dairy foods like cheesecake.
The children dressed up as Moses to climb our version of Mount Sinai and receive the 10 commandments

Visiting our synagogue to coincide with learning about Shavuot. We learned about the 10 Commandments and the Torah, which children saw up close.
The President of the Synagogue Committee was very welcoming and she opened the Aron Kodesh for us. This is the ark where the Torah is kept. The children had the chance to hold the rimonim, and the yad and loved listening to the sound of the bells.

As part of Mental Health Awareness Week children were encouraged to use positive and vibrant words about themselves. We talked about how important it is to praise all the good things we do. The children moulded their image and reflection, adding their own effects and certain details, and expressed how they felt about themselves. Later they added positive affirmations to their work, using overwriting.
