I have read this book many times and every time I could hear his conviction, charisma and urgency in his voice as my eyes focused on every word that was transcribed. With every turn of the page, I felt hope in the weight of every thought he articulated like the true man of the people he was. I made a lot of notes every time I turned the pages, do you know the word I wrote the most? [ 291 more words ]

Dear Black People, I write to you to open Pandora’s box and discuss how our very existence threatens White supremacy, and answer if it is our responsibility to be less invasive in White spaces? I'm not saying you are dangerous or radical as a person, I know that, you know that. But you also know that the White person next to you do not know that. [ 1,198 more word ]

As part of our discussion at our Dine and Discuss event, we went around spoke our dreams, hope and desires for Black Britain's future in the next 50 years. It was an emotionally charged moment and we all had burning hot aspirations for our people. When we gaze into the crystal ball, we see a Black future: where there is a total collapse of the European system and Black people can take advantage and build up their own self-rule once again but in collaboration with one and another this time. I want us to explore the concept of “Black” identity in a framework of social constructs that relates to the world around us and the impact it has on our self-esteem. We are born into a structural society, we recognise that we need to find ourselves in a world filled with endless classifications and when we identify ourselves similar to classifications, it is called identification in identity theory. I am in love with images that came from the cultivated mind of Dario Calmese, who is a young, multi-talented, and soon to be high-profile artist and photographer. I went to his website after tapping hearts all over his Instagram pics and I was not disappointed. He writes about Black culture, fashion, and appropriation. His collections were powerful but stoic with a hint of remarkable storytelling magic. [ 41 more words ]
