Why do some copywriters
never succeed?

The two most significant factors I have noticed are poor skills and a lack of mentorship.

Some people took up copywriting without adequate knowledge and skills needed to excel. Some watched a few YouTube videos that failed to explain the nitty-gritty of copywriting and assumed they were good to go. This makes it almost impossible to be successful as a copywriter.

Mentorship helps you become a successful copywriter after you gain proficient writing skills.

Every business person need copywriting...

You already know what your product does, how it benefits people, and how much it will cost you to sell it.

Additionally, you have compiled and organised all the data, facts, and marketing tactics.

BUT YOU NEED TO COMMUNICATE THIS USING WORDS

Some people will say “words are just words” after I write fluently and have a lot of vocabulary.

You really do need more than a few phrases on your website or in your marketing to persuade people to take you up on your offer, despite what you might think.

The ultimate goal of any business owner is to close sales! But when done well, copywriting may even establish your company and brand as industry leaders, helping you to stand out from the competitors and take the lead.

I'm taking new students into the next cohort of the CIC Academy, and this is open to every one ranging from business owners, freelancer, most importantly anyone that wants to use words to sell.

Since a CTA is a call to action, you should use powerful verbs to make it clear to the user what you want them to do.

You should make it as specific and pertinent to your users as possible.

Think about what's in it for them if they undertake the activity as well as what you want them to do.

What will take place?

For instance, you might use a gentle call to action like "Learn more" or "Read more" in an email to consumers who have just signed up for a free eBook if you're writing for a company that sells a $5,000/month service.

You might use a more direct call to action, such as "get started," "purchase now," or "sign up," if a user is at the bottom of the sales funnel and is already familiar with the brand, and other marketing touch points have established trust and highlighted why the brand offers the best answer.

Other elements of the CTA that you may want to test when applicable include:

Urgency: Using words like “now” or “today”

Length: For example, “Subscribe” versus “Subscribe for instant updates”

Point of view: Using second person, speaking directly to your users (“Get your free copy”) versus first person, speaking as if you are the user (“Yes, I want my free copy”)
