From making salt dough to weaving, our Kindergarten is a wholesome place to begin a lifelong love of learning.

Autumnal sunrise at The London Acorn School, sometimes we can't believe that we are still based a stone's throw from central London!

Everyday we are grateful for our school's magical surroundings of Morden Hall Park.

We wish you and your families a wonderful half term. Here is Hazel Class jumping into the holidays!

Heavenly early mornings spent walking to school in Morden Hall Park.

With small class sizes, our teachers are able to offer one-to-one support, provide a nurturing, pastoral role in the lives of our students throughout their journey from Kindergarten to Oak Class.

The great outdoors can educates us daily if we are willing to pause, be and breathe.

Starting the week by looking back at our Harvest Festival a few weeks ago - we love to come together as a community and celebrate the changing seasons. Photo credit Agnieszka King.

We still have places available in our Kindergarten classes, come and see us in action by booking onto a personal tour via our website – we look forward to welcoming you.

Thank you to CARE Pakistan for a moving assembly on your humanitarian aid work to support flood victims. We look forward to supporting your charity through sales from our weekly after-school popcorn and tea stand.

Sometimes, at the end of a jam-packed day, what the children really enjoy is our Chill Club - a quiet, creative atmosphere to breathe out.

In Woodland Craft, the children are becoming tree ambassadors, adopting a chosen tree in the grounds of Morden Hall Park. These leaf rubbings show the diversity of trees surrounding us.

Based in Morden Hall Park, we are a pioneering Alternative Independent School fro 3.5-11 year olds.

It's our Harvest Festival today and we are thrilled to welcome our parent community to celebrate. Our Kindergarten and Willow Class went to our allotment last week to harvest the corn and pumpkins that they planted in the spring; it was wonderful to see the joy on their faces.

Willow Class (Year 2) are learning about classification of animals in Science this term, which meant we were out of our seats and moving around the classroom to put each animal in its correct group. Shouts of 'it's not a reptile, it's a mammal' could be heard along the corridor!

What a colourful, lively time is had by all in our Kindergarten! From dressing up to bread-making, from counting to weaving, everyday is a fun day at The London Acorn School.

Our oldest Kindergarten pupils started woodwork for the very first time last week and we are so impressed with their attention to detail, focus and stamina. We can't wait to see their first creations: woodwork hedgehogs!

The gift of a Waldorf Kindergarten start to education is that children develop a love of learning through imaginative storytelling and craft, imitating caregivers and enjoying child-led play.

Our Birch Class (Year 3) are learning about The Stone Age this term, which weaves throughout our thematic-based curriculum, linking History, Literacy, Maths, Art and Woodland Craft together.

Every Wednesday, our oldest pupils head down to Kindergarten to read to our youngest students. This is one of the loveliest times of the week, showcasing the best that a family-style school has to offer.

It is always great to read something that chimes with our TLAS ethos. We love this recent article by Sophie Winkleman in The Spectator. Check it out here:

My fight to get screens out of schools It was gratifying to see the recent Unesco report recommending moderation on the topic of tech in the classroom. I do hope the Department for Education, Ofsted and every school head in the country has read it. Britain seems to have submitted to the tidal wave of digital learning without so much as a...

Hands-on learning is an integral part of what we do at The London Acorn School. These Year 5 pupils are starting work on their Viking inspired lanterns for our Lantern Festival later in the term.

We are so fortunate to have a thriving parent community, supporting the school in our charity events. Last week we held a Back to School Clothes Sale in aid of our school charity this term, Farms for City Children.

The London Acorn School

We are a vibrant community of expert practitioners, pupils and parents, offering a progressive holistic educational approach to prepare our children for purposeful and fulfilling lives and enable them to become highly contributing members of society.

At the core of our practice we recognise that childhood is a magical time to be cherished and protected which is why we provide our children with educational adventures every day that inspire wonder and help them discover and embrace their full emotional, physical, intellectual and creative potential.

Today, our provision is for children aged 3-11; offering a kindergarten(nursery) and Primary School. In future we hope to extend this further to a middle and high school.

We offer our unique educational model as a beacon of best practice and inspiration to educators and legislators with the hope that, one day, this child-centred and progressive approach will represent the norm.
