This week students and their families came together to celebrate the achievements of the S.M.I.L.E-ing Boys Project. Twelve KAA students took part in the project run by artist Kay Rufai last summer. Each of the boys benefitted from weekly group mentor sessions where they discussed their lived experiences and how best to navigate through their future.

On Monday, the students invited their friends and family to see the final portraits and reflect on the progress that they have made. It was an incredibly positive celebration and KAA is thankful to Kay for leading the project, and the KAA Intrepidus Trust for making it possible!

Our Story

KAA is an 11 – 18 academy situated in the heart of Notting Hill. We opened in brand new buildings in September 2014 with just Year 7, and since then have grown into a full school with over 1,200 students.

KAA is a high performing academy with a strong local and national profile. In December 2017 Ofsted graded the school β€œoutstanding” in all areas and described standards as β€œexceptional”. In 2018 KAA was named the TES Secondary School of the Year.

Our Sixth Form is also outstanding. Typically half of all Year 13 leavers progress to Russell Group Universities, with a small number to Oxbridge each year. Any current Year 11 students interest in applying for KAA6 should visit our Sixth Form pages.

Another distinctive feature of KAA is our partnerships. We are linked with Godolphin & Latymer and Charterhouse independent schools, and this helps provide our students with opportunities that are unique in the state sector. We are also partnered with LAMDA and the Royal Academy of Dance and have a specialism in performing and creative arts subjects. In March 2019 KAA featured in the Royal Television Society (RTS) award-winning BBC2 documentary β€˜The Choir’ and the school choir went on to perform at the BAFTAs with Gareth Malone.
