β¨ I currently teach students that have committed to fasting at a very young age. As far as myself, and my non-fasting students, we do not eat or drink in the classroom during this time. Because I live and work in the Middle East, it is a common mandate throughout the country. But, a mandate that I am willing to follow during this time.

π£ Ramadan is a holy month in the Islamic calendar, during which Muslims observe fasting from dawn until sunset. It is a spiritual time for Muslims, and it is important for colleagues and educators to be supportive of those who are observing Ramadan.

π‘Here are some simple things you can do to maintain a supportive and inclusive environment for students and colleagues who are fasting during Ramadan:
1. Be aware of the dates of Ramadan. Since the dates of Ramadan change every year, it is important to be aware of the exact dates in order to know when your colleagues and students will be fasting.
2. Be respectful of their religious practices. It is important to respect the religious practices of your colleagues and students. This means refraining from offering food or drink during daylight hours, and being mindful of their schedule during this time.
3. Be flexible with scheduling. Students and colleagues who are fasting may need to take breaks during the day to pray or rest. Being flexible with scheduling can help accommodate their needs during this time.
4. Provide support and encouragement. Fasting during Ramadan can be challenging, both physically and mentally. Providing support and encouragement can help boost morale and make the experience easier for those observing Ramadan.
5. Educate yourself and others. Educating yourself and others about Ramadan and its significance can help promote understanding and respect for your colleagues and students who are observing the fast.

β¨Five years ago, I made the courageous decision to move abroad to teach. Looking back, it was one of the best decisions of my life! I've had the opportunity to experience different cultures, travel to various countries, and grow as an educator. I'm so grateful for the incredible opportunities God has allowed me to have!
My time abroad has taught me so much and I'm so glad I had the courage to take the plunge. I'm thankful for the amazing people I've met and the incredible experiences I've had.
No matter where life takes me from here, I'll never forget the last five years!
