All Family Fitness programs are designed by Susan, a qualified personal trainer, youth fitness specialist and a mum of two.

Her sessions include movements recognised in any fitness bootcamp but delivered as a themed adventure that every child will enjoy.

Our mission is simple - to have more people associate fitness with fun and so want to continue with it for life (& enjoy all those physical, mental and social benefits for life too) 😀

We hope that introducing children to fitness in the context of imaginative play where they have plenty of input and where there are no wrong moves will empower them to be active for life.

We also hope (& have seen already) that families exercising together means there’s always someone able to motivate the other one to join in. We all have those moments where we just don’t feel like it, but when we feel accountable to our child, or vice-versa we make that extra effort, and usually, after an uplifting workout, feel very pleased to have done so!

We encourage children to continue the fun at home where parents can choose to join in, or enjoy observing their little ones recreate their themed workout adventure again and again until the following weeks’ themed starts the process all over again 😀.

Fondly, but no less importantly we hope to provide a livery, dedicated time for parents/carers and children to have lots of fun, learning together, creating adventures together and laughing together 😊

It’s time for a really ROARSOME workout with our dinosaur themed class this week for kids and parents/carers to do together 🦕😀(please note there’s no Friday class due to venue closure)

🏃‍♀️🏃warm up, learning new moves for our dinosaur themed adventure workout…

🦖🦕🥚🌋🌲The Adventure: the mumma dinosaurs’ eggs have been stolen by the naughty pterodactyl. Can we get them back before the volcano erupts?

We’ll be asking our dino friends for help as we try to retrieve the eggs; stomping with the stegosauruses, swishing our tails like the diplodocus and swimming with the ichtheasaurus along with loads of other moves so that kids and parents/carers all get a great workout! 💪😀🦕

Dinosaur themed active games will follow, with lots of roaring and laughter encouraged!

🌸🐝🦊Come and join us at the Busy Bees Nursery Summer Fair, Teddington, Saturday June 24, 10am-2pm. There will be lots of fun with Family Fitness and lots of other stalls!

Family Fitness will be helping children transform into our “Fit Star Fox” by decorating the awesome fox masks in the second pic.

There will also be a short physical challenge for little ones to complete either by themselves or to compete against their parent or carer at. Our bets are on the kids!! All children will get a sticker and maybe a bonus prize - come along to see what!😀🦊

It’s been a scorcher so this week we packed our beach bags and went off to the seaside. Woohoo! 😀💦🌞🍦🏄🏊⛱

✂️🎨🥏After chatting about our favourite seaside things we made frisbees then

🏃‍♀️🏃warmed up for our seaside themed adventure workout…

⛱💦🏊🏄🦀🍦🌞 The Adventure: this week we had extra fun as we battled the wind to keep the beach safe from our fly-away parasol. 🏄Our favourite move was ‘surfer-dude’. Lie on your front (on the board) then catch a wave by jumping your feet forward between your hands into a squat position, then jump up and land with one foot in front of the other ‘surfer style’ before being knocked off by a wave! 🌊 🏄 challenge - how many ‘surfer-dudes’ (stylish burpees!) can you do in 1 minute? We also tested our fitness by:
⛱running into the sea (running on the spot)
⛱Swimming (squats with breast stroke arms)
⛱Floating (lying with feet and/or arms hovering above the ground)
⛱Rock pool climbing (mountain climbers)
and lots more.

All our efforts kept everyone safe from our parasol and we even had energy left to play some beach-themed games, including using our brilliantly decorated frisbees. 🥏😀

Even Teddy gets to join in the roarsome fun at Family Fitness! Whatever helps your little one enjoy taking part, just let us know and we’ll try and incorporate it.

If you’re little one is happy with the activity then it’s more likely you’ll be able to join in and have fun too😊

Every class starts with a simple craft to introduce the day’s topic, get imaginations firing and little fingers more nimble with fine motor skills.

Next all kids, parents and carers warm up before taking on the themed adventure workout of the day. This week we’re helping a lion cub find their lost roar, with the help of their animal friends! We’ll be climbing trees (running or marching on the spot) hopping across stepping stones and crawling through the undergrowth as we try to find it. Will we be successful? Join in to find out! (Hint - you may want to bring ear plugs for the end of the workout - ROARRR!🦁)

We’ll finish off with fun, active games and a stretch and chat.

All moves can be modified for different abilities and free-styling is ability fine too -as long as we all keep moving it’s “mission fitness” accomplished!

🦁” Rooaarrr”! This week our workout theme is lions, and specifically helping our lion cub find their lost roar! 🦁🍃

Make: we will start off making some lion masks so we’re ready for the “mane” event.

Movement:
Warm-up: move around our territory practicing our roar so much that we lose it! We’ll learn some moves in the warm-up that we’ll use in the main workout such as climbing the trees instead of running on the spot and stopping at the water hole instead of doing plank variations.

Main workout: the instructor will tell the story of a lion cub looking for its lost roar which we all (including parents/carers!) act out with exercise moves. Lots of lion “rooaarrrs” are encouraged and options will be given so everyone can go at their own pace.

The adventure is followed by lots of active games to keep bodies and minds racing, and plenty of laughter going too.

We finish with a good stretch and a chat about what we’ve learnt, and our favourite moves.

Shiver me timbers! This week our workout theme is PIRATES 🏴‍☠️⚓️🏝️

Make: we will start off making awesome pirate bandanas to have us shipshape for the workout section of the class

Movement:
Warm-up: we’ll learn some moves in the warm-up such as climbing the rigging instead of running on the spot and leaning out of the ships’ crows nest instead of balancing on one leg doing single leg good mornings.

The adventure is followed by lots of active games to keep bodies and minds racing, and plenty of laughter going too.

We finish with a good stretch and a chat about what we’ve learnt, and our favourite moves.
