It's not exam results that determine a young person's success.
It's whether they feel they belong.
Samreen, Director of Education Allies, explores this in our new blog - link in bio.
We'd love to hear your thoughts: What helps young people feel they truly belong?

During the pandemic, many young people lost their primary sense of belonging : their school community.
Attendance has never fully recovered.
Research shows it’s not exam grades that predict long-term success, but whether children feel they belong. Without it, learning has no foundation.
So how do we re-imagine belonging in today’s hybrid world of virtual and physical education?
I share some reflections (and Education Allies’ latest work with parents) in this blog:
Belonging: The Foundation of Learning in a Changing World
When we think about what young people need in order to learn, most of us picture exam results, timetables, and lessons. But education is never just about knowledge - it is about growth. And for growth to happen, young people need more than textbooks. They need to feel they belong.Psychologist Abraha...

'Real change begins with connection -centered around the child.'
This is one of the key messages from our Education Allies course.
When we rebuild the links between children, parents, and schools, everything shifts - belonging, confidence, wellbeing,
and learning.
I've shared more reflections and Real parent stories in my latest blog. You can find the link in the comments below.

What happens when a child no longer feels they belong at school?
During our recent Education Allies course - Building Independence in Neurodivergent Young People - this question came up again and again.
Parents shared powerful, often heartbreaking stories:
Bullying
Exclusions as young as five
The deep isolation of feeling unheard by schools
One thing became clear - success in school isn’t just about academic results or EHCPs.
Belonging matters most.
I’ve written a new article reflecting on what we heard during the course, and why rebuilding connections between parents, children, and schools is more urgent than ever.
If you’re a parent, educator, or professional working with young people, I’d love to hear your thoughts.
Have you seen these challenges too? What needs to change?

✨ Our thoughts shape how we respond to the world—and to our children.
In this week’s session, we explored how naming distorted thinking patterns (like “I always mess this up” or “They never listen”) can help us shift the story we’re telling ourselves.
This small act—naming the thought—creates space for compassion, perspective, and growth. For us and for them.
💬 What thoughts have you been naming lately?

Reflections on Session 2: Supporting Your Child in Challenging Situations

Session One: Understanding Your Individual and Unique Child 🌱✨
Our first session brought together a beautiful, nurturing group of parents (and even grandparents!) committed to supporting their children with understanding and compassion.
One young person’s metaphor stayed with us:
🪣 “Each day starts with a bucket of sand. Every interaction takes a handful. By the end, there’s nothing left.”
It’s such a powerful way to describe emotional exhaustion—and why recovery time matters.
We explored:
💛 The uniqueness of every child’s emotional world
👪 The importance of community-based support
🗣️ Simple tools that open up honest conversations
Next week we move into Communicating with Your Child in Challenging Situations – a space to build confidence and strategies around behaviour and big emotions.
