It’s amazing to see our students stepping into the role of teacher during their work experience week! Through our Piano Teaching Programme, students gain hands-on insight into what it means to guide and inspire others on their musical journey.

Over the week, they explored everything from lesson planning and learning styles to communication, motivation, and classroom confidence. They discovered that teaching isn’t just about demonstrating notes, it’s about patience, encouragement, and helping each student find joy in learning.

This experience helps our students build essential life skills like leadership, organisation, and empathy. Watching them grow into thoughtful, supportive mentors has been truly inspiring. 👏

🎸 Fun Facts Chosen by Us: The Guitar

At Stoke Newington Music School, we love the guitar for its creativity, energy, and expression. It’s an instrument that truly brings people together, whether you’re playing in a band, performing solo, or just learning your first chord. 💙💚

Here are a few of our favourite fun facts about the guitar:
1️⃣ The world’s largest playable guitar is over 13 metres long
2️⃣ Guitars have been around for more than 4,000 years
3️⃣ Jimi Hendrix played his guitar upside down because he was left-handed 🎶

It’s no wonder the guitar is one of the most loved instruments at our school. 🎹

Doesn’t time fly? Looking back on the progress our students make reminds us where we started and shows the endless possibilities of where we can go. 💛

From those very first lessons in 2019 to performing at Grade 6 in 2024, this journey has been such a joy to watch. We love celebrating our students as they grow in confidence, skill, and creativity on their musical journey.

Meet Beste, one of the incredible tutors at our Stoke Newington Music School family! 🎶

Warm, welcoming, and always encouraging, Beste brings passion, patience, and dedication to every lesson. She helps her students shine, building confidence and creativity through the power of music.

An accomplished cellist with over a decade of professional experience, Beste graduated with distinction from Dokuz Eylül University State Conservatory and has performed internationally with renowned orchestras and chamber ensembles, including the London Contemporary Orchestra and various string quartets. 🎻

Her love for teaching is just as strong as her love for performing. She guides students of all levels with care and expertise, including many who prepare for ABRSM exams. 💛

What an incredible weekend! I want to say a huge thank you to everyone who joined us for our Learn to Play Open Weekend: 55 young musicians signed up to explore piano, singing, drums, guitar, and violin, and the energy was absolutely inspiring. 🎹🥁🎤🎸🎻

We support low-income families, SEN students, older adults facing loneliness and our wonderfully diverse community. To keep growing, we need your help.

💡 We’re looking for volunteer with fundraising and bid-writing experience to join us for around 4 hours a week. You’ll help secure vital funds, expand our projects and bring the life-changing power of music to more people.
