Blackhorse Workshop is a new kind of public building for making, mending and learning located in Walthamstow, east London. In the spirit of the public library the workshop will be a place for shared knowledge, with tools, machinery and skilled technicians in place of books, desks and librarians. The workshop has been running an initial programme of talks, classes and events since November 2013 before opening fully on 1st February 2014. The workshop will open its doors officially on Wednesday 22nd January from 4-9pm with a range of activities for all ages, food tasting, music and a chance to sign up for discounted memberships. A range of affordable membership packages will cater for everyone, from commercial and professional makers, to the occasional user. There will also be a number of affordable private studios available for long-term tenancy. The programme of public classes, talks and events will further encourage the sharing of knowledge and skills. The building has been under construction for the past six months, with Assemble working with local artists, businesses, community organisations and volunteers during the build. A collaboration with graphic designers Europa has resulted in the graphic identity for the workshop, covering the printed and online material as well as the workshop’s interior.

THE MENU
The evening's menu is curated by our Nepali team members and includes:

- Tomato achar (smoky, spicy, tomato sauce)
- Potato cucumber salad
- Rajma (red kidney bean curry)

All dishes are vegan.

If you'd like to join us, you'll find tickets via the link in our bio.

We recognise that financial realities shape who can take part in gatherings like these. To help make our dinners more accessible, we offer a 'Solidarity Sliding Scale' of pricing.

This approach allows people with different resources to come together around the same table, supporting one another's participation and helping to build a more inclusive community.

Every ticket contributes to making these gatherings possible. The income from each dinner supports fair wages for our team, the artists and hosts who shape the experience, and the local growers whose produce is at the heart of every meal.

We look forward to seeing you there!

Alongside our madness of making activities down at on Saturday 19th September we have an exciting installation!

Collider is a mixed reality sound installation that blends spatial music creation, immersive soundscapes and tactile digital interaction.

Through a mixed reality headset, participants create and manipulate digital objects in real time, building compositions shaped by the space around them. These objects move through the environment, creating layered rhythms and evolving soundscapes until the architecture itself becomes both an instrument and part of the composition.

Signal-to-Noise is a UK-based creative media arts collective led by Niall Quinn and Oliver Wilshen. They create award-winning audiovisual installations, exploratory interfaces and experimental devices.
