With the 2026 British Horseracing Development Programme cohort about to start, did you know in our Race to your Careers podcast series Adam, Sam and Jasmine all took part in the early careers programme! Using the programme to spring into various areas of the racing industry 🏇😃

The series can be streamed now. The programme starts with a comprehensive two-week residential induction course held in Newmarket in July 2026. Participants then go on to paid placements which are usually eight weeks but, in some cases, may be longer!

An 18-month, hands-on course based on a UK stud farm of your choice. Learn from industry experts, develop vital horse husbandry skills, and take the next step towards a career in the thoroughbred industry — with progression opportunities to the Level 3 Equine Groom Breeding Pathway.

👉 Level 3 Equine Groom Pathway Apprenticeship (Breeding Option)

The Level 3 Equine Groom Pathway Apprenticeship is designed for those working in the thoroughbred industry who are ready to progress and build the experience needed for a future management role.

Completed in the workplace, this programme allows you to earn while you learn from industry professionals. Delivered in partnership with Myerscough College, you’ll receive regular support from a National Stud or Myerscough assessor.
