As a teacher I take a pedagogical approach while also allowing children to flourish and develop
through their own expression. However, there was more to me. I didn't realise this until I had the opportunity to work with children. I feel privileged every day that I get to work with such brilliant little beings! With their individual personalities, imaginations and to have no inhibitions with their creativity, it is such a pleasure to be around as a creative myself. Elly Keeffe has been teaching and gigging in London for a little over ten years now. Originally from Cork, Elly started out in her family band at the age of 14 and toured all around Ireland, singing all the well-known ballads and many more besides! At the age of 17 she went to live in Cork City to complete her course in Music, Management & Sound in Coláiste Stiofáin Naofa. During this time Elly put together her first bunch of songs to produce her debut album entitled 'When We Live', released in 2010. She toured around Europe and worked with various producers in both Ireland and the UK. Elly decided to make the move to London in 2014, and two years later released her EP entitled 'You'. At around this time Elly moved to West London, which she now describes as 'her London home' and obtained a teaching position in a primary school in Northolt. She joined Contraband, a well-established local function band, and within a few years succeeded in making her mark on the London Irish scene, while also teaming up with various other artists and musicians. In 2018 Elly travelled to New York and Nashville to play in some of the most iconic venues. She collaborated with various publishers and recorded some of her most recent singles, 'Gold and 'Other Side Of The Storm'. In 2020 she appeared on the Voice UK and made it to the final twelve! She has also extended her teaching experience in various primary schools in West London and worked with post-16 students at a music industry college in central London. Throughout this time, she has retained her role as the Music Specialist at St Raphael's Primary School, while also continuing to write and release her own music. This new venture for Elly is the next step in affirming her life here in Hanwell, West London, where she lives with her partner.
