Future First is an organisation working to transform careers education and build communities around schools across the UK. We do this by bringing former students back to their old schools and colleges to educate, inform and inspire current pupils.

❓ What does it look like when a business genuinely invests in the futures of young people?

🌟 For Markerstudy Group, it means opening up their workplace, sharing their expertise and giving young people the chance to see careers they may never have considered.

Through their partnership with Future First, Markerstudy has hosted Insight Days, getting colleagues from across the business to share their career journeys and help students understand the many different routes into the world of work.

And for our main contact person, Emily Taylor, who knows first-hand what it feels like to leave school without knowing where you fit in, this work is deeply personal: “It gives young people hope and helps them see what’s possible.”

We are very grateful for our long standing partnership with Markerstudy which helps us raise aspirations and open paths to success.

📢 "I became much more confident asking questions and speaking with professionals about their careers."

Over three days, Luana gained a behind-the-scenes look at careers in public affairs, communications, media, politics and law, all thanks to our wonderful partners at DRD Partnership.

From watching a live debate in the House of Commons to observing a defamation case at the Royal Courts of Justice, meeting professionals across a range of industries, and tackling a real-life crisis communications scenario, Luana says that the DRD Summer School programme has helped her build her confidence, develop new skills and open up exciting career possibilities.

Deborah joins us with extensive leadership experience and a deep commitment to creating opportunities for young people. Her own life experiences have shaped a passion for ensuring every young person has access to the support, networks and role models they need to succeed.

Alumni matter. More than we sometimes realise.

For young people, success can often feel distant if they've never met someone who has taken a path they can relate to.

That is why alumni are so powerful.

They are living proof that a different future is possible. They help students see opportunities they may never have considered, share honest insights about education and careers, and make ambitions feel achievable rather than abstract.

Alumni can also open doors. Through conversations, mentoring, work experience, introductions and networks, they can help bridge the gap between aspiration and opportunity.

Most importantly, alumni bring credibility. Young people often listen differently when advice comes from someone who once sat in the same classrooms, faced similar challenges, and has since built their own journey.

This Schools Alumni Week, it's worth recognising the enormous contribution that former students make to the next generation. Every story shared, every connection made, and every hour volunteered has the potential to change a young person's trajectory.

Because sometimes the most powerful role model is simply someone who shows, "I was where you are now."

“We wanted to give students a realistic view of what working in finance actually looks like. For many, it can feel like an intimidating or unfamiliar space, so the aim was to make it more accessible and show there are lots of different paths into the industry.” Todimu S.⁠

Last autumn, Lumon hosted an insight day for the students of St Clement Danes School. The event gave students first-hand insight into a wide range of careers in finance, while helping them build practical employability skills and challenge common misconceptions about the industry.⁠
