What happens when a young person is encouraged to tell their story? Their imagination grows, their confidence strengthens and their voice becomes impossible to ignore.
This International Youth Day, we’re celebrating young writers and the adults who make space for their creativity.
At Accomplish Press, we’ve had the joy of helping children as young as 10 and 12 publish their own books. Their achievements remind us that age is not a limit to meaningful ideas, powerful storytelling or big dreams.
Young writers thrive when they have:
💚 Encouragement instead of pressure
💛 Practical guidance to develop their ideas
📚 A safe community where their voice is valued
✍️ Support to keep going when the blank page feels difficult
That’s why we created our Creative Writing Club for Kids and Teens: to help young storytellers build confidence, develop their writing skills and discover the joy of bringing their ideas to life.
If your child loves stories, has a vivid imagination or dreams of becoming an author, we’d love to support them. Learn more about our Creative Writing Club (for ages 9 to 15) here: https://accomplishpress.com/creative-writing-club-for-kids-and-teens/
Writing is not the alternative to “fun”.
When children hear, “No screen time. Go and write instead,” writing can quickly start to feel like a punishment.
The goal isn’t to make screens the enemy. It’s to help our children discover that creating can be just as exciting as consuming. 💚

What if your unfinished manuscript isn’t proof that you can’t write: it’s simply waiting for the right support?
When Miriam A. came to us, she had a manuscript she had been carrying for years. She believed in the story, but self-doubt, competing priorities and uncertainty about the next steps kept her stuck.
Through our Get Unstuck coaching journey, Miriam learned how to:
✓ Break the manuscript into manageable stages
✓ Strengthen the structure and develop her message
✓ Replace perfectionism with consistent progress
✓ Prepare confidently for publication
Today, she is a published author.
“I had opened that manuscript so many times and always found a reason to close it again. Coaching helped me stop treating my book like an impossible mountain. I finally finished it, published it, and now I can hold the book I once thought I might never complete. The confidence I gained has changed how I see myself.” : Miriam A.
Your manuscript may be unfinished, but your author journey is not over.
If you’re ready to move from stuck to finished, send us a DM or visit https://accomplishpress.com to learn how our writing coaching can support your next step.

Hello parent! Try this fun writing exercise with your child aged 9 to 15. Ask them to write “A day in the life of our pet” from their pet’s perspective. 🐾
They could begin with: “Today, I woke up and noticed something very strange…”
Then encourage them to explore:
🐶 What does their pet see, hear and smell?
🐱 What does the pet think about the family?
🐰 What secret adventures might happen while everyone is out?
🐹 What makes the pet happy, worried or curious?
Remind your child that the goal isn’t perfect spelling or grammar. It’s about noticing the world in a new way and giving their imagination room to play.
This simple activity helps children develop:
✅ Empathy
✅ Imagination
✅ Observation skills
✅ Confidence in expressing ideas
When they’ve finished, ask them to read the story aloud: in their pet’s voice if they’re feeling brave! 📖
Send us a DM to learn how our Creative Writing Club helps young writers bring their ideas to life.

You've finished your manuscript, now what? Should you publish an ebook? A paperback? An audiobook? Or maybe all three?
One of the biggest mistakes I see first-time authors make is trying to do everything at once. Choosing the right publishing format is just as important as writing a great book.
In my latest blog, I break down the four main self-publishing formats: paperback, ebook, audiobook and interactive workbooks, and explain the pros, cons and best uses for each.
You'll discover:
• Which format gives you the widest reach.
• Why paperbacks still build credibility.
• When it's worth creating an audiobook.
• A simple publishing roadmap that helps you launch without burning out.
If you're an aspiring author wondering what happens after you've typed "The End," this article will help you make confident publishing decisions and avoid costly mistakes.
