Freshers’ week wrap-up! 🚀 what a way to kick off life at Escape Studios…

Private screening of Project Hail Mary and an exclusive talk with Framestore Animation Supervisor Dan Blacker. And be honest… who else teared up at Rocky? 🥹

Students also got stuck into our Societies Fair, finding their people and discovering plenty of ways to get involved beyond the classroom. Creative Writing, Dance Society, Football, Film, Skate, Tabletop Society and plenty more on offer, there’s something for every kind of creative.

We can't forget the Arcade Night! Students from all levels came together to meet classmates. With arcade cabinets, retro consoles and pinball machines free to play all night, plus food and drinks on hand, it was the perfect way to settle into the Escape community.

Now let’s see what the rest of the year brings…

Meet the industry pros joining us at our September open day!

This Saturday 26th September, you’ll have the chance to meet Escape Studios alumni Emma Richards and Callum Wylie and hear about their journeys into the creative industries.

✨ Emma Richards: Junior Paint & Roto Artist at Industrial Light & Magic, who recently celebrated seeing The Dog Stars hit the big screen after working on the project at BlueBolt.

✨ Callum Wylie: 3D Animator and Previs/Postvis Animator, with experience at Framestore, MPC and Blue Zoo, including work on Mufasa: The Lion King.

They’ll be joining us for an exclusive alumni talk, sharing their industry experiences, life after Escape and answering your questions.

From Escape to Tokyo ✈️ Between the 7th-11th September 2026, a group of our Animation students said 'konnichiwa' to a new culture and travelled to Japan to attend lectures and workshops in manga and anime at Digital Hollywood University.

Accompanied by our Dean of Visual Storytelling, Alex Williams, students attended classes covering pop culture, anime character design, voice acting for anime and even a talk by 'Akira' animator Mitsunori Murata!

Do you know a school-age gamer, animator or film fan looking to try out new skills? Our Film and Screen Saturday Club is a great opportunity for young people to learn about the world of digital creation for 3D animation, video games and visual effects (VFX)!

Our most recent cohort learned new software skills to make creative work using Unreal Engine, and even visited the British Museum and heard a talk from Industrial Light & Magic, the legendary studio behind films and shows including the Star Wars franchise 💫

It is Zap’s first birthday and this September, we are coming full circle and returning to some familiar destinations!

On 19th September you can catch us in Paris, where Zap debuted last year, and between 22nd-26th September, we'll be in Singapore for their famous Lion City fairs all across the country.

Next month, we are continuing the journey with more destinations in Europe and Southeast Asia.
