Plaistow Preschool in West Sussex is back for a brand new term!

Our first week back after the summer break was full of muddy shoes, big smiles and lots of early years learning in action. From tuff tray play with diggers and dumper trucks to mark making with paint and dot pictures, the children have settled straight back into preschool life.
Simple activities like these do more than they look. They build the fine motor skills and creativity that sit at the heart of the EYFS curriculum, the framework that shapes everything we do at preschool. It is a lovely reminder that some of the best early learning happens through everyday play, not worksheets.
A warm welcome to all our new starters and families joining us this term. Starting preschool is a big step for any little one, and we are so glad to have you as part of our Plaistow Pre-School community.

What a week it has been here at Plaistow Pre School in West Sussex ☀️

We are so proud of every single one of our little ones this week. Watching their confidence grow day by day, from finding their peg and coat hook to chatting happily with new friends, has been an absolute joy for our whole team. Settling in is such a special part of the Early Years journey, helping children build the independence and social skills they will carry with them for years to come.

🏃‍♀️🌟 SPORTS DAY 2026 🌟🏃‍♂️

What an absolutely brilliant day! 🎉 Watching these little ones shine today was pure magic from start to finish.

And yes, it was brilliant fun. But it was so much more than that too.

💪 Every sprint, jump and wobble is building fundamental movement skills and body coordination. Giving children the time and space to practise these through play is something we treasure, and today they had it in abundance.

🤝 Taking turns, cheering on a friend, handling big feelings about winning and losing. These are life skills being practised in real time, helping children build a positive sense of self and learn how to get along with the world around them.

🗣️ “Ready, steady, GO!” Rich back-and-forth with adults and friends builds vocabulary, confidence and language in the best possible way. It underpins absolutely everything.

🧠 Children discovering what their bodies can do, trying something new and pushing through a challenge. Self-discovery at its finest.

✨ And when you watch them playing and exploring, throwing themselves in, thinking through problems and celebrating each other? That is childhood done brilliantly.

Every child had a brilliant day. Every child was celebrated. That is exactly how it should be. 🏅

Thank you to every family who came to cheer them on. Your faces in that crowd meant everything to them. 💛
