One of the things we kept asking ourselves while building TripPA was "would a busy teacher actually enjoy using this?"

Trip planning will always involve paperwork, checks and approval, and that isn't going away. But we believe the process should be clear, intuitive and easy to follow.

Our new Trip Checklists let schools and EVCs customise their own preparation process, while giving Trip Leads a simple step-by-step guide through everything that needs to be completed before approval.

How many times have you recreated the same trip?

If your school runs weekly fixtures, swimming lessons, library visits or other regular activities, it's probably quite a lot!

Last year, we spoke to a lot of schools who were frustrated by having to enter the same information over and over again for visits that happen every week or every term. And so we made a new TripPA feature: Trip Series.

Create the trip once, then turn it into a recurring series. Each occurrence can still be managed individually, but you don't have to keep starting from scratch, and info can easily be copied between each trip.

It's one of the new features we've added to TripPA to help schools reduce admin and make managing regular visits a little easier. If you're starting to think about next year's trips, take a look at what TripPA has to offer at trippa.net.

It's funny how some habits never leave you! Rich and Amanda recently spent a day exploring Luxembourg, but before long they found themselves saying things like…"that would be a great place for a music tour performance".

After leading many music tours over the years, it's almost impossible not to see places through the eyes of a trip leader.

The summer holidays are often when ideas for next year's visits begin to take shape. A museum, a mountain vista or just a town square can all spark that initial idea.

Wherever you're spending your summer, we hope you're finding plenty of opportunities to relax, but perhaps a little inspiration for future trips too 😀.

There's always something special about the end of the school year.

For teachers, as well as looking forward to the holiday, it's a chance to look back on everything that's happened over the past twelve months. For many of us, some of the moments we'll remember most happened outside the classroom.

Whether it was a residential, a theatre visit, a sports tour or a museum trip, thank you to everyone who gave up their time to make those experiences possible!

As teachers of many years ourselves, we know just how much work goes into every successful trip.

We hope everyone has a restful and well-deserved summer.

How easy is it to find the trips that need your attention?

As more trips are added throughout the year, it can become increasingly difficult to keep track of what's coming up and which visits require action.

We've redesigned the My Trips page in TripPA to make this easier.

Staff can now switch between the original card view and a new calendar and list view, making it easier to browse trips in the way that works best for them. Trips requiring action are automatically prioritised at the top of the page, while filters help you quickly find visits by their current status.

For EVCs and school leaders managing lots of educational visits, it's a much clearer way to stay organised.

Many schools have a straightforward approval process for day trips, but require additional oversight from specific staff for residentials, adventurous activities or overseas visits.

We've introduced Custom Approval Workflows in TripPA to make this easier.
