People often see the performances, the costumes and the smiles. What they don’t always see are the years of dedication, countless trips to Brasil, the sacrifices, the financial investment, the responsibility of leading a School of Samba in London, and the commitment to preserving and sharing this culture with the respect it deserves.

Being President of Império da Rainha is much more than organising events or teaching dance. It is about carrying a responsibility to honour the roots of Brazilian samba, to represent our culture with authenticity, and to create opportunities for people here in the UK to experience the true spirit of a samba school.

As a Passista of Acadêmicos do Salgueiro, every visit to Rio reminds me where my inspiration comes from. I return to London with renewed energy, determined to keep building something meaningful for our community.

Samba has given me a sense of belonging, purpose and connection to my roots. Sharing that with others is my way of giving back.

To everyone who supports Império da Rainha, attends classes, plays in our bateria, dances with us, volunteers, or simply cheers us on: thank you. You are helping keep Brazilian culture alive thousands of miles from home.
