Choice boards

We are writing all the letters of the alphabet through using our learning boards. This helps the child learn how to get used to using a pen. A more accurate way to write each letter !

It also helps improve vital eye and hand coordination skills.

The children have been learning the single phonic sounds too.

Each day we have as part of our routine ‘choosing time’ where the children visit the book corner and pick a book of their choice. We all give books and props to the children each week to read at home with there parents.

Loud day at the nursery!! The children enjoyed experimenting with all different sounds with the musical instruments🥁 and we sang some nursery rhymes 🎼

Second outing to Wells park before we lost the sunshine! It’s vital for the children to have the fresh air and be involved in physical play as much as possible !

Road safety is a running topic within Father Larkin pre school, last week we spoke with the children about the high way code explaining what to do before crossing and how to keep safe ! They then practised walking up and down and stopping before the pretend road we made and showed us what they had to do!

A theme the children enjoyed was learning about space we created a feel of being on the moon for them and they even learnt the quote ‘one step for man, one big leap for mankind!’ 🚀

We value cultural diversity here ensuring to teach the importance of celebrating different values and beliefs from around the world! The children enjoy visiting the culture table each day and particularly love ‘Handas surprise’ story time where they get a chance to dress up and act out the narrative !
