Thanks Canal & River Trust for the opportunity to present Wings of Courage at Stonebridge Lock!

We had two fab days of hearing and recording local people's stories, meeting the boat community, making birds.....and then playing all that back through a performance devised by 5 members of our Tottenham Project, who transformed all this material into a site specific physical piece incorporating a soundscape of birds, testimonies and music.
This is London at its best: colourful, open, diverse and with a great heart

Wings of Courage opens at 12 noon at Stonebridge Lock, and runs again tomorrow. Two days only, drop in anytime from 12, fold a paper bird, share a story of courage, and watch it join hundreds of others in a growing installation on the canal.

Miss today? You've got one more chance tomorrow, but Saturday's the big one. Everything gathered over the two days comes together in a live performance at 6pm, built from the stories and birds you help create.

Wings of Courage is coming to Stonebridge Lock. We're inviting Tottenham locals, and anyone who loves origami, to stop, fold a paper bird, and share a moment of courage. It could be your own experience, something you witnessed, or an act of kindness that stayed with you.

Every bird folded becomes part of a growing installation on the canal, one shaped by real stories of courage, resilience and belonging from the people who show up. On Saturday, those same stories and birds come together in a live performance, built from what we gather over the two days.

This is LegalAliens Theatre and Canal & River Trust's way of marking the journeys we make, the communities we build, and the quiet courage found in daily life, told through the people who live alongside this stretch of water.

Tottenham locals, or anyone who loves origami, this one's for you.

This is Wings of Courage, a free drop-in origami and storytelling workshop at Stonebridge Lock, running Friday 11th and Saturday 12th September from 12 noon.

Come fold a paper bird, and if you'd like, share a story of courage while you do it. Your bird will join hundreds of others in an evolving installation.

Everything gathered over the two days comes together in a live performance on Saturday at 6pm. Come fold a bird, or just come watch.

What happens to all the stories?
We don’t collect them and put them away.
They become part of the work.
A sentence can become a movement.
A memory can change a scene.
A paper bird can become part of an installation.
A stranger’s story can sit beside our own.
Wings of Courage is made through this exchange.
And now our performers are bringing those fragments together for Tottenham.

Do you know we have a podcast?
was created during the pandemic thanks to an ACE grant. Inspired by an idea by Greek actor Emmanuela Lia we commissioned 10 migrant women artists to write and perform a monologue about the things they are not.
We also asked listeners to send us a reply in any form - poetry, photography, video - which we published on thingsimnot.com

The audio pieces were so successful we created bonus episodes with interviews with migrant artists and activists.
The podcast is still available on Spotify and Apple podcast
