In my opinion these are some grammar subjects to really work on and will make your English sound impressive an 'natural.' I then suggest learning additionally as much vocabulary as possible and not to worry too much on anything else like phrasal verbs and idioms etc.

"PLAIN"

A commonly used word to describe something very ordinary, without colour or design or a food or drink item without flavouring or filling (riempito) etc.

Let's look at some uses:

"Can I have a plain croissant please?" (brioche liscia/vuota)
"I would like a glass of plain (still) water" (acqua naturale)
"Get me a packet of plain crisp" (patatine salate)
"You bought plain doughnuts. I wanted jam ones" (ciambelle vuote/ senza un ripieno di marmellata)
"Who is that girl with in the plain red dress?" (con il vestito liscio rosso)
"What do you think of the paint colour in this room?" "It's a bit plain, isn't it?!" (vernice piuttosto monotono/noioso ecc)
"Plain omlette" (frittata con solo le uova)
"A plain and simple man" (un uomo semplice)
