Former Head of Jazz, Thames Valley University. Now teaching privately in High Wycombe. The Gary O'Toole School of Music (or G.O.T. for short) was based in central London, and offered one to one tuition in Drums, Bass, Guitar, Piano, and Vocals. After years of touring, recording and performing across the world, I've decided to focus closer to home and take on a small number of private drum students here in High Wycombe.
Over the past 40 years I've recorded with Kylie Minogue, Chrissie Hynde, Mel C, S Club 7, Nicole Kidman and Ewan McGregor. I spent 19 years as drummer for Steve Hackett, played at Prince Charles' 40th birthday at Buckingham Palace, and deputised for 20 years on the West End show Cats. I've also lectured at Thames Valley University and ran my own school on Denmark Street in London's West End for 15 years.
Now I'm teaching from my home studio in High Wycombe — in person or online — and I have a few slots available.
If you or someone you know has always wanted to learn drums properly, or is stuck at a plateau and wants to take their playing further, I'd love to have a chat.
