Culinary Medicine UK

This improves their lifestyle and their health by preventing and tackling some of the most common diseases we face today.

We’re here to teach health practitioners about nutrition and how to cook. “ Why?!” We hear you ask… We believe that clinicians, who have a good understanding of nutrition and are able to communicate this confidently, have a major advantage in the effort to change the habits of patients. The evidence-based course in itself is intuitive and creative, tapping into different learning styles and gives health practitioners real experience when it comes to learning about food. The four main components of the course are: online learning modules, reading, cooking and discussion. Our first event covering two modules is to be held on the 24th Feb 2018 and is the first of its kind to be held in the UK. More information about the course and how to register can be found on our website: http://www.culinarymedicineuk.org/

We look forward to seeing you there!

PCOS has a new name: PMOS -
Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome is now more accurately recognised as Polyendocrine Metabolic Ovarian Syndrome.

That matters, because the condition is about much more than the ovaries. For many patients, it involves a combination of hormonal, metabolic and inflammatory features, which means the old name never really captured the full picture.

This is exactly where culinary medicine has a crucial role to play. Food, nutrition and behaviour change are not side notes in PMOS/PCOS - they are part of the support that can help patients better manage insulin resistance, improve energy, reduce symptoms and build sustainable habits that support long-term health.

At CMUK, we believe this kind of whole-person, practical, evidence-informed approach is essential in women’s health. Better language, better understanding and better support can all help patients feel seen, heard and empowered.

See you on 12th June at our edusocial where we will be looking at how to help our patients living with PMOS with our expert speaker

Out of over 1,800 nominations…. We are incredibly proud to share some massive news! 🌟

Last week, our CEO, Dr Sumi Baruah, was officially awarded ‘Highly Commended’ for Innovator of the Year (Supply Chain & Services) at the 2026!

To reach this level of accolade in such a fiercely competitive landscape is a huge honour. But as Sumi will be the first to say, this is far more than an individual recognition - it is a powerful signal for the entire Culinary Medicine UK team and our shared mission.

Standing out among 1,800 phenomenal leaders proves that the systemic walls between healthcare and hospitality are finally coming down. It shows that the wider industry is officially ready to champion the integration of more food into medicine, sustainable supply chains, and the farm-to-fork approach we have been rigorously supporting.

This accolade belongs to every single doctor, dietitian, chef, and educational partner working with us to translate clinical nutrition into scalable, real-world action: from medical school classrooms to hospital kitchens and community food banks.

A huge thank you to the Women in Food & Drink Awards for the incredible recognition, and congratulations to all the inspiring finalists and winners. We are so proud to be in this company.

The movement to drive structural public health reform through food is just getting started. Onwards! 🚀🍽️🩺
