This piece by Level 4 student Hannah Greene () was created in response to the theme of Time.

Inspired by mould growth in Petri dishes, Hannah explored surface reticulation to create an organic, textured finish, with a flush-set London blue topaz adding a subtle point of colour.

As the piece developed, the surface began to take on an almost lunar quality too — echoing the surface of the moon and adding another unexpected connection to the theme of time.

Ellie (Ellie McColl) found her way to K2 at 17, “with no clue what I wanted to do.”

She went on to study both Level 3 and Level 4, developing a strong range of technical and making skills along the way — from soldering, filing, piercing and wax carving to stone setting, hollow forms, link making, casting, mixed materials and fine metalwork.

As her confidence grew, so did the scale and ambition of her work. One of her most memorable projects came during a Flowers to Body Adornment workshop, when she brought a Christmas tree into the studio and transformed it into a life-sized pair of wings.

Now, she’s excited to keep pushing beyond traditional jewellery and explore more non-metal materials in her work.

Her advice to future K2 students? Embrace it, ask questions, step out of your comfort zone and don’t be afraid to experiment.

We’re very proud to have been part of your journey, Ellie 💛

Level 4 student work by Amanda Savage Amanda Savage

Made in response to the theme Clothing, Garments and Apparel, this hollow copper ring takes inspiration from the construction and textures of clothing.

The raised seam is a key feature, referencing the joins and stitched edges found in garments. Amanda also used denim fabric to imprint the copper, creating a subtle textile texture across the piece.

Where jewellery ends and clothing begins is a line worth blurring.

Level 4 student Hannah Greene - , incorporated beaded fabric into wax before electroforming the piece in copper and silver plating it. The result is a ring that preserves the texture and movement of the original textile, bringing together elements of jewellery, fabric and sculpture.
