🌧️ Despite the rain, our first in-person Offer Holder Day on campus was vibrant and full of enthusiasm and energy, as many ambitious students visited to learn more about Mathematical and Actuarial Sciences.

🎓 The day was made even more special by our student ambassadors, who shared their valuable experiences and offered advice to students considering joining us.

📅 We look forward to welcoming more students at our next Offer Holder Day on 7 March 2026 and giving them a taste of what it is like to be part of our supportive and inspiring community at Queen Mary’s School of Mathematical Sciences, as we say Maths ∀ (for all) ❤️😉!

📌Prof John Moriarty Launches Tangents and new Normals (TnN) Network

This groundbreaking international research network, which is the first initiative of its kind, is set to explore how geometry can unlock new frontiers in probability, statistics, and machine learning.

Backed by the INI–HIMR Network Support Programme, TnN unites leading researchers from Queen Mary University of London, the University of Nottingham, UCL, and Ecole normale supérieure. It also aims to build mathematically rigorous, globally connected, and inclusive research communities.

Key focus areas include:

🔹 Manifold learning via variational autoencoders (VAEs)
🔹 Estimation with stochastic processes on Riemannian manifolds
🔹 Nonconvex geometry of risk-sensitive stochastic process optimisation

A series of international workshops will run from 2025 to 2027.
