A huge well done to our Year 11 pupils on an exceptional set of GCSE results.

59% of grades at 9
84% of grades at 9 - 8
97% of grades at 9 - 7 (a new school record!)

A brilliant achievement and we couldn’t be prouder of our pupils.

As Head, Alan Bird, said: “Many congratulations to our brilliant cohort of Year 11 pupils on their fantastic set of GCSE results. They represent just reward for two years of hard work, and a strong foundation for their A-Level studies starting this September. We look forward to welcoming them back into the Sixth Form at the start of the next term.”

Congratulations, Year 11! 👏

What a way to celebrate A-Level Results Day! 🎉

The Class of 2026 has achieved record-breaking results, with an outstanding 81.4% of grades at A-A* - the school’s best-ever results (outside the Covid years). We couldn’t be prouder of our pupils and all they have achieved! 👏

Our Head, Mr Alan Bird, said: "Huge congratulations to our brilliant Class of 2026. These record-breaking and highly deserved A-Level results are testament to their focus and their hard work throughout the last two years. We are all enormously proud of their achievements. Throughout their school careers, they added so much to the life of our community, acting as powerful role models and leaders. They are now ready to take their next step, and they move on to pastures new with the very best wishes of us all.”

Our inaugural FIRST Tech Challenge robotics team has achieved an extraordinary debut season! 🤖

After winning the Inspire Award at the South East Regional Finals and the Innovate Award at the UK Championships, the joint City of London School and City of London School for Girls team qualified to represent the UK at the European Premier Event in Eindhoven.

Competing against 105 of Europe's top robotics teams, they won six of their seven qualification matches, finished 20th overall and ranked as the third-highest performing UK team - an exceptional achievement for a rookie team.

Congratulations to everyone involved on an outstanding season. We can't wait to see what comes next for robotics at CLS and CLSG.

From medieval castles to the beaches that changed the course of history, our First Form pupils enjoyed a (albeit very hot!) trip to Normandy at the end of the Summer Term.

Visiting landmarks including Bayeux Cathedral, Falaise Castle, Pegasus Bridge, Omaha Beach, Arromanches and Juno Beach, the trip gave pupils the opportunity to practise their French and deepen their understanding of key events from 1066 to the D-Day landings of 1944!

As part of our Futures Programme, pupils are given the opportunity to explore different industries, develop workplace skills and gain valuable insight into life beyond the classroom. We caught up with some of our Fifth Form pupils after their first few days of work experience to hear their first impressions.

One of the businesses our pupils have been spending time at is Nomura, one of the world's leading financial services firms, experiencing first-hand what it's like to work in a global business. So, we put them on the spot with a few quick-fire questions to find out what surprised them most, what they've learnt so far and how they're finding the experience. Take a look at what they had to say!

History, mystery and a little mathematical thinking...

This week, our Fourth Form pupils joined Mr Fernandes at the open crypt of Lincoln's Inn Chapel, where they searched centuries-old gravestones for a hidden keyword to crack a cipher challenge.

The pupils also investigated the composition of dice rolls to determine their overall effect, combining probability, logic and problem-solving in the unique surroundings of the Chapel.

A fantastic evening celebrating an unforgettable season of football at CLS! ⚽🏆

Our U14 Football Awards recognised the teamwork and talent that made this group so special, with players receiving honors including Most improved player, Top goalscorer, Manager's player and Players' player.

The evening was a fitting tribute to a team that has written its own chapter in City of London School sporting history. After beginning the season alongside nearly 700 schools from across the country, the U14s fought their way to the ESFA Cup Final, finishing as national runners-up following an outstanding campaign.

Congratulations to every player and member of staff involved. What a season, and what an achievement! ⚽

To celebrate the success of our Smart House project, led by pupils Arjun and Vincent in collaboration with our STEM partner and Old Citizen, Dan Slavinsky, they visited the Royal Society Summer Science Exhibition at the Royal Society's historic home on Carlton House Terrace.

The project has been supported by the Royal Society through a Partnership Grant and has given our pupils the opportunity to explore cutting-edge ideas in technology and innovation.

Joining the group were fellow Old Citizen Andrew Dowdy and former member of staff Anitre MacDonagh, making it a wonderful afternoon of reconnecting. The exhibition proved so inspiring that Arjun and Vincent are already planning a return visit during their summer break!

Congratulations to CLS alumnus Freddie MacBruce (Class of 2017), who is currently performing in The Misanthrope at the National Theatre.

It's always fantastic to see our former pupils thriving in the creative industries, and we're delighted to see Freddie taking to one of the country's most prestigious stages.

We wish him every success for the rest of the run! 🎭
