Year 1 are learning about natural and human features in Geography. Today they carried out some fieldwork by going for a walk around the school to spot different types of features. Armed with their clipboards the children will use their findings to explain why each feature was human or physical.

We are in the process of putting together our Poppy display ahead of Remembrance Day. Mrs Lipshaw loved these beautiful, big poppies from our Nursery children. They will look wonderful in the Hall, displayed with artwork from across all year groups.

We always like to be on trend so over the half term we painted and created our very own Rubikโ€™s cube bench. A happy space for โ€œcubersโ€ coming together from across the year groups.

Our Nursery children are looking at Nursery Rhymes and today are exploring all things Humpty Dumpty. They are cutting Humpty Dumpty to improve their fine motor skills, learning pencil control, using playdoh to strengthen their hand muscles and playing with the masks and puppets in the tuff tray.

Our year 2 children are really enjoying their DT lesson exploring different types of mechanisms. They are building on their knowledge and looking at pop up mechanisms to make their rabbit pop up out of a hat. This follows their research into artist Robert Sabuda who makes pop up childrenโ€™s books. ๐Ÿ“š

Our year 1 children are enjoying a carousel of activities in their Science lesson. They are learning about extreme and regular weather. Here they are creating weather art, sorting different types of weathers and handwriting them, doing weather wordsearches, looking at weather pictures and talking about them and using the magnetic letters to make weather words. โšก๏ธ๐ŸŒค๏ธโ›ˆ๏ธโ˜€๏ธโ„๏ธ

How it started vs howโ€™s its goingโ€ฆ Two year 4 children came to see Mrs Lipshaw with an idea - the โ€œNo Be Lonely Clubโ€. They wanted a suggestion box for ideas and to monitor the playground to make sure everyone was playing happily. So a meeting was arranged, a poster created and their box now sits proudly on the front desk. In assembly today Mrs Lipshaw presented them with their own bespoke sashes to wear whilst on duty. Mrs Lipshaw loves to hear from the children and see their ideas become reality. Good luck girls!

Our succah has been a hive of activity today! We loved welcoming in our Reception parents and grandparents this morning. Everyone enjoyed group tefillah, sang Succot songs and the children were all given a snack bag to eat in the succah. There was also a craft activity to do together, making a Sefer Torah from felt and pom poms to be used on Simchat Torah. All classes will be visiting the succah this week and 2 of our year groups enjoyed lunch al fresco today with the other year groups planned for later in the week. A full day of celebrating Succot! Our children love reading and to kick off the new year each class has chosen some brand new books for their classroom reading areas. Miss Collins surprised this year 2 class with a book delivery. The children uses their prediction skills to guess what was inside the gift. They are very excited to read it and add it to their collection of books. ๐Ÿ“š ๐Ÿ’™

If the Reception children (and teachers) were particularly Zen today thatโ€™s because theyโ€™ve had a spa day! They donned their dressing gowns and slippers for a mini Spa day as part of their PSED topic of looking after our mental health and well-being. They enjoyed mindfulness colouring, cooking, taking part in yoga and meditation sessions and visiting their own wellness spa!
