What a truly special few days at the Yoga Darśana, Yoga Sādhana Conference in Paris. ✨
I came away inspired, grateful, and full of new ideas.
A huge thank you to , , and everyone involved in organising the conference. Everything was impeccably planned, thoughtful, and welcoming. It is hard to imagine how it could have been any better.
It was also a real honour to participate as a speaker. I thoroughly enjoyed sharing my research, engaging in discussions, and learning from the questions, insights, and perspectives of others. Experiences like this remind me how fortunate I am to be part of such a vibrant and generous scholarly community, and I very much hope to continue attending and contributing to these conferences in the years ahead.
It was wonderful to reconnect with old friends, meet new people, and feel part of this growing community of yoga scholars. .dhers .nikodem .shapiro
Meeting and listening to scholars such as Elizabeth De Michelis, Mark Singleton, James Mallinson, , Stuart Sarbacker, .mans , and many others whose books and research I have followed for years was an incredible experience.
And as if all of that wasn’t enough, the cruise along the Seine was the perfect cherry on top. 🚢✨💕🎉💃🏾
Thank you to everyone who shared conversations, ideas, questions, laughter, and friendship. I learned so much, and I return home feeling inspired, energised, and deeply grateful.
Already looking forward to the next one ✨❤️

I’m so excited to be travelling to Paris for the 2026 Yoga Darśana Yoga Sādhana Conference, where I’ll be presenting my work on Kripalu Yoga.
The full title of my presentation is:
“Kripalu Yoga and the Roots of Flow: Movement, Prana, and Absorption in Modern Postural Yoga.”
In this paper, I’ll be exploring the many meanings of flow: flow as movement, flow as a psychological state of absorption, and flow as the movement of prāṇa through the body.
Life has been very full recently, and it has been challenging to find the energy for everything. But this research is so fascinating that it keeps drawing me back in. The more I study what unfolded between the 1970s and the 2000s, the more absorbed I become.
I’m really looking forward to sharing more of this work with you. ✨

Such a lovely day teaching at Triyoga Camden as part of teacher training, sharing the Yoga History and Philosophy modules with this wonderful group of women.
Today we explored the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali—reflecting on the nature of the mind and the perspective that Patanjali and Samkhya philosophy offer to the practice of yoga. I’m always inspired by the thoughtful questions, reflections, and openness that arise in these conversations.
This was our fourth module together, with one more to go, and it’s been such a joy to share this journey with you all. Thank you for your presence and curiosity today.

“In the past the seeker after spiritual enlightenment went to the monastery, the forest, or the mountain, there to lead the secluded life of the ascetic. To-day it must be otherwise, for no place is any longer safe from invasion, nor is such withdrawal from the world either necessary or desirable. You must find within yourself the cell, the cave, the safe retreat for consecrated moments, even while living the ordinary life of every day imposed by duty or necessity.” Claude Bragdon, 1952

Yesterday I had the pleasure of attending a talk on Mantrams, an exciting new six-year research project exploring the history, sonic efficiency, and materiality of mantras. The event was hosted by the SOAS Centre for Yoga Studies and chaired by Dr Suzanne Newcombe .The presentations were both inspiring and thought-provoking. The three speakers, including , offered rich perspectives on mantras — as sound, as practice, and as living tradition — making complex ideas accessible and deeply engaging.
Looking forward to following this project as it unfolds! Thank you to .centreofyogastudies and the team for such an inspiring evening.
